The man page of jpgicc says -c NUM Precalculates transform (0=Off, 1=Normal, 2=Hi-res, 3=LoRes) [defaults to 1].
I was not able to find more information about that option. To me it seems 1 is a trade-off between speed and quality. But to me, speed does not matter.
What does "Hi-res" mean and why should I prefer it over "Normal" (or why should I prefer "Normal" over "Hi-res")?
On one of my 2 Ubuntu computers, GEdit does not remember the "Text wrapping" setting after closing the app.
Now I try to find the reason for that difference in behavior.
Both computers are equipped with Ubuntu 17.10 and received the latest updates. One of them is German, the other one English. Remembering text wrapping does not work on the German computer, but I doubt that is the reason since the localization usually does not lead to any problems.
Where can I find the settings file where GEdit stores its settings?

To prevent my graphics card from crashing after a few minutes, I had to add the following configuration:

This is the only change I made. Since then, if I turn off sticky edges for my displays, they remain sticky, and the launcher bar appears on both monitors even though it is set to appear only on the left one.
Both settings (sticky edges off + launcher bar placement) worked before this little change.
How can I make it work again?
It is very important to me, since I have fullscreen photos on the left screen and a photo list on the right, and I need to move the mouse pointer from one screen to the other quite often to put photos on the list. I can not use keys to move the photos because dragging them is the only way. Thus I need to turn off sticky edges again.
For watching TV/videos on my computer while working on other tasks I wish there was a way to put the browser window (or a video player) into an overlay (an output-only window that becomes transparent on hover). The video window should behave exactly like a notification overlay.
Any chance I can achieve that aim?

As you can see, all three files have the same structure.
Still mongodb starts on boot, whereas mongodb.homepage1 and mongodb.homepage2 do not.

Why don't they start on boot?
Using Ubuntu's system settings to configure two screens (desktop monitor and TV via HDMI in my case) is not ergonomic.
Hence I decided to code a handy switcher script which lets me choose between mirrored output ("mirror") and either left screen on/right screen off or left screen off/right screen on ("switch"). It is based on xrandr.
It works as expected and I like the flexibility when using xrandr, BUT:

My Ubuntu server has no more than 512 MB of memory. It is not enough for running Node.js + MongoDB.
Hence I decided to add a swap file:

cat /dev/lirc0 returns rubbish if I press buttons on my remote controls, cat /dev/input/event6 does the same. irw outputs nothing but mouse input when using inputlirc.

The graphics card (Intel Iris graphics 6100) sends 16:9 video to the TV. 1-2 cm of its borders are cropped. How can I correct this?
I need to build a DEB package from mainly Node.js Javascript files, but it should include some binary files as well. They are listed inside debian/source/include-binaries. Otherwise I get the error message
dpkg-source: error: unrepresentable changes to source
The command in question is:
bzr builddeb -- -us -uc
After adding the file include-binaries, when running bzr builddeb -- -us -uc again, now I get a different error: It says
dpkg-source: error: aborting due to unexpected upstream changes, see /tmp/mailadmin_0.0-1.diff.n6m5_6
I have no idea how to get rid of this.
In the next line of output it tells me
dpkg-source: info: you can integrate the local changes with dpkg-source --commit
But if I run this command in the build area of my package, it gives me the unrepresentable changes to source error message again, even though debian/source/include-binaries is present in the build area as well.
I am missing the way out of this...
I tried deleting all files that are produced by the build process, still no success.
Further details:
The target directory is /opt/mailadmin. Since this directory is unusual, I listed it in the file debian/mailadmin.install (which contains one line:)

The bzr builddeb process uses this file as expected.
There is no upstream tarball, because the project is new.

(file templates) does not show an input dialog when I install the package using dpkg -i, and when I run it from the command line as well.
Instead it writes "localhost" to /tmp/from_config_script.txt, even though this default value is not part of the template file any more. I never ever saw the input popup. The input popup is what I am trying to achieve.
I removed the package with apt-get purge mailadmin, but even purge did not clear this default value. What can I do?
