If I enable the option:

• "Ask where to save each file before downloading" in Google Chrome, Chrome is frozen after download.
• "Always ask you where to save files" in Firefox, it does not start downloading at all.

I think that maybe it's a problem using the native ubuntu window to select the folder, but no idea how to fix it or if it's a bug in Ubuntu 22.04

I'm trying to install Ubuntu 20.04 in a Dell G5-5587, replacing a 100% working Ubuntu 18.04 I tried to install it for scratch and updating from 18.04, with the same problem.

When Ubuntu 20.04 starts, it is stuck in the snap initialization.

When I upgrade from 18.04, It is necessary to wait tens of minutes to pass all snapd steps: Processing snap replacements, refreshing snap core18, installing snap gnome-3-34-1804, etc...

After installing 20.04 from scratch or rebooting after upgrade from 18.04, it is stuck at boot time because snapd stuff, like wait until snapd is fully seeded.

As I say, Ubuntu 18.04.4 is working with no problems at all.

Please, advice. I don't know what to do next.

Note and clues:

• It works if I boot using "Advanced options for Ubuntu" -> "Ubuntu, with Linux 5.4.0-40-generic (rescue mode)" -> "resume".

The Bluetooth detects my headphones and I can pair it, but the sound is continuously broken and after few minutes de connection is lost. The only strange thing that I found in the syslog is that the device is detected as a keyboard (even when I can listen using it :D ).

I used to have a folder ~/bin with soft links to my local applications.

After the last installation, fish shell is no more adding this folder to the PATH.

Any explanation about why this stopped to work or why was it working before?

UPDATE: I supposed that fish was using the bash config as well, but I was completely wrong and it makes sense. Two different shells, two different config files. In fact, bash scripts are not compatible with fish.

When I try to install Ubuntu server 19.04-live-server-amd64 or 18.04.2-live-server-amd64, it fails because an error "bcache module not found". The bug is this, but it is closed as fixed and released. I can install Desktop images without a problem.

My question is, in the meantime, how to install Ubuntu server. Is there a workaround?

My sound over displayport was not working and looks like it is a known problem with Nvidia graphics cards.

Here the alsa report where I can see that only the HDA Intel module is loaded.

To fix it, this worked to me: https://github.com/hhfeuer/nvhda

After executing it, I went to Settings -> Sound -> Output Device and select the new HDMI / DisplayPort option.

Here the alsa report after load the module where I can read a new NVidia soundcard.

It is working, so I load the kernel module automatically

sudo echo 'nvhda' >> /etc/modules

Problem and questions:

• Every time that I restart the laptop, I need to execute sudo tee /proc/acpi/nvhda <<<ON again to enable the sound. How to do it automatically after loading the nvhda module?
• Is really strange that Ubuntu does not fix this problem. Am I missing something? There is another way?

I want to configure different scales for my 4K monitor and the FHD, but it looks an impossible challenge.

Next my different tests and conclusions. A lot of things are not working, so I need to know (to decide) what to try to fix first.

Could you advise me about which path to take to get it working?

One important note: 30Hz is not enough refresh ratio. After a few hours, my eyes are killing me.

Conclusion.

• BUG? Thunderbolt 3 cannot handle 4K higher than 30Hz.
• BUG? HDMI is not working in Wayland. The monitor detects the connection but goes to sleep mode (No signal. Entering in power saving mode).
• BUG? In X11 the Scale option is shared between all displays.
• Fact: Display management is the worst parts of Linux.

I can not enable the Canonical Partners in my new installation of Ubuntu 18.04.

I try to do it from the Canonical Partners tab on Software & Updates.

When I click on the checkbox, it stays deselected.

I don't have a clue why is happening:

• The only error on the XOrg logs is (EE) open /dev/fb0: Permission denied ($ grep EE ~/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.*)
• Also, on display settings, there is no "Detect Displays" button, like in Ubuntu 17.10.
• I tried installing latest drivers from https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/ubuntu/graphics-drivers
• I tried with different cables and monitors.
• Googling, I didn't find any recent response that fit with my problem.
• Tested cable and monitor with other laptop and working without any issue.
• Tested with Live USB and working without issues.
• Both monitor working in the Login.
• Is the module i915 the right one for an i7-4870HQ (Haswell microarch)?

To be honest, I don't know where to start to search.

Note: In the office is working as usual with two monitors!! It is like if it's memorizing the configuration. But las week dual monitor was working at home. What did change? How to fix it?

I try to install OpenJDK 9 and Oracle JDK 9 in the same Ubuntu 17.10 machine, but looks like both are exclusive packages.

If I have installed OpenJDK 9 and try to install the Oracle one, apt is removing OpenJDK 9.

The following packages will be REMOVED:
openjdk-9-jdk openjdk-9-jdk-headless openjdk-9-jre openjdk-9-jre-headless

It is not happening the same for OpenJDK 8 and Oracle JDK 8. I have both installed without any problem.

I'm pretty sure that there is a good reason for this. so this is the question: What is the reason because it is not possible to install both OpenJDK 9 and Oracle JDK 9 in the same machine?

I upgrade to Ubuntu 13.04 and some times appears in boot display a message:

When this message appears, I must reboot because the mouse turns very slow and doesn't response correctly. I suppose that is a IRQ Conflict problem, but how I can resolve it?

I removed RTL8169 external ethernet to simplify error possibilities. Without this card, I had tested different BIOS configurations and the result is:

1. Disabling IRQ #16 appears when I enable "Intel Virtualization Technology" in the bios.
2. When I disable the integrated ethernet in the BIOS, motherboard is freeze in the reboot, when show Gigabyte's logo. I must remove battery for two minutes to restore the BIOS.

News: I tested with latest BIOs. Error persists, but minus errors appears in dmesg. For example, *BAD*gran_size has been disappear. A curiosity: Firmwares files in GIGAByte web are .exe !!!! and the last BIOS image is 10 months old beta version!

I need to do a presentation of a product with charts (Pie and Bar charts).

I use LibreOffice for documentation, but charts are not very beautiful.

Someone could recommend any software to generate charts ?

It's very important that charts will be beautiful, with 3D effect, gradients, etc.
