I am using Navicat for MySQL on Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS with the native Gnome UI. Prior versions of Navicat used Wine, but this version (15) provides an AppImage file which I have been launching from the terminal. Once launched, it ties up that terminal process until I exit Navicat. This annoys me.

I've found several walkthroughs that pertain to the Wine version on Unity, but nothing for running the AppImage on Gnome. Is there any way I can create a shortcut on the launcher bar (or wherever) in Gnome so I don't have to launch the process from a terminal window?

In pursuit of an answer to this question, I purchased a Dell WD19TB dock for my XPS 13 7390 "Developer Edition" running 18.04.3 LTS. After connecting everything, the HDMI external monitor works fine, but the USB 3 and gigabit ethernet ports don't work at all. I looked at my devices->Thunderbolt, and the dock shows up as "pending":

I clicked on the dock name in that screen and this dialog popped up, asking me to "authorize and connect" to the dock:

I click the "authorize and connect" button, and after typing in my sudo password, I got another dialog stating "Failed to authorize device: kernel error."

After this, back on the devices->Thunderbolt screen, the dock shows with an error:

Dell support has no idea what to do with Ubuntu users, it seems, and directed me to the official Ubuntu forum, where I will be posting as well. Do I need to install some drivers for the dock? If so, what drivers and where do I get them? How do I get a Dell WD19TB dock working with my system?

I was just provided with a new Dell XPS13 7390 laptop for work running 18.04.3 LTS. I need to get a dock for my peripherals and, since this thing has Thunderbolt ports, I'm considering getting a Thunderbolt dock that can (allegedly) run two external monitors at 4k, but don't want to spend the extra money if it won't work. I really have two basic questions:

Can I run two external monitors at 4k over Thunderbolt with Ubuntu 18.04.3?

Bonus: Can I run two external monitors at 4k and use the laptop display as well?

We purchased the Dell WD19TB dock and, after some good times, got it working correctly with the Ubuntu 18.04 laptop. Today, I attempted to hook up two external monitors and cannot get it working. I've tried the following combinations:

Scenario 1
Monitor 1: DisplayPort via dock
Monitor 2: HDMI via dock
Result: Only the DisplayPort monitor works, neither the HDMI nor the native display work. When I unplug the HDMI monitor from the dock, the native display does not return to function.

Scenario 2
Monitor 1: DisplayPort via dock
Monitor 2: DisplayPort via dock (the dock has two standard DPs and one mini DP)
Result: Only Monitor 2 works. This one is really curious, as xrandr shows all three connections, if I'm reading it correctly. However, --listmonitors only shows 2 monitors. I can provide xrandr results if requested.

Scenario 3
Monitor 1: DisplayPort via dock
Monitor 2: USB-C to HDMI via an adapter from the laptop's built-in USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port
Result: None of the monitors work.

I can't even find a basic tutorial on how to get two external 4k monitors to work on Ubuntu, let alone with any of the configurations I'm dealing with. Does anyone have any guidance?

It's as simple as that: I need to view the permissions of a PDF file. Not the file system permissions, but the permissions specific to PDF Security, e.g.,

• Printing
• Document Assembly
• Content Copying
• Page Extraction
• Commenting
• Filling of Form Fields
• Signing
• Creation of Template Pages

I know I can set permissions and view annotations, data fields, etc. with pdftk. But I need to see what the security permissions are. A friend can do so on Mac with Acrobat Reader (I believe) and gets this:

If I look at the document properties with the built-in Document Viewer (Evince), it doesn't even get the security right:

I'm open to installing new software, but I don't need anything fancy. How can I view a PDF document's security permissions on Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS?

I am running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and am having a persistent, obnoxious problem with Chrome and Hangouts. If I attach a Chrome shortcut to the launcher and/or search for Chrome, it insists that it is Hangouts (I use the Hangouts extension in Chrome), and does not give me options that I need to use (web developer), namely "Launch Incognito." Screenshot of what comes up when I search "chrome" in Applications:

Similarly, if I add a shortcut to Launcher (via drag/drop from the search) and then hover, this shows:

If I right-click the icon in the Launcher, I don't get any of the usual options for launching Chrome in Incognito mode, etc.:

I have tried removing/reinstalling Chrome several times (using instructions from this question) and every time, it still comes back as "Hangouts" instead of good old Chrome.

Currently running Chrome version 64.0.3282.167 (64-bit), with Hangouts extension version 2018.123.418.2.

I am aware of keyboard shortcuts in Chrome for launching new tabs and windows in Incognito mode, but I don't feel like I should have to use these. Can anyone help?

I've upgraded to 18.04 LTS and this problem persists. I just completely uninstalled Chrome, reinstalled it (from the .deb package), and when I attempt to launch Chrome from the new Activities thinger, this madness occurs:

Postman is an app I use for HTTP testing. It was originally a Chrome extension and then I installed it as a native application. I have searched my system high and low for any references to it and have removed them, but this problem STILL persists.
