I am upgrading to Wily atm and I noticed a lot of dependency problems, but removing anyway as you requested:. This doesn't sound too good, but as mentioned on this comment, I would assume that if a package is removed with a dependent package, that both packages would be removed. So was this also the case with the upgrade? Or did it leave dependency problems behind I should fix? If so, how do I fix them?

I'm using 64 bit Lubuntu 15.04, I inserted my monitor, opened arandr, activated the monitor and positioned it as shown below. Now the problem I'm having is that my monitor seems to be considered the main screen as it has my desktop icons and task bar. Now how do I move the bar (and the icons) to the bottom (laptop) screen?

I'm on 15.04 64 bit Lubuntu and I downloaded chrome from their website, because it can be useful at times, but I want to keep firefox as my default browser and despite having put it as default browser it still doesn't run when I execute x-www-browser. I then manually put firefox as default using the update-alternatives script, but what made me wonder was why chrome put itself at a priority of 200. I don't regard chrome as high as they do themselves, so how would I be able to change the priorities?

This is what I have now and firefox did indeed become my default application, but it shouldn't have, when I clearly put it as default in the firefox interface itself.

After upgrading to 15.04 I tried different drivers for my wireless card, so I thought to refresh the udev rules and deleted the /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules file, thinking it would be recreated at boot. It didn't and gave the following error

So how do I make the system writable again?

I updated to Ubuntu 15.04 and now my swap partition does not seem to mount. I'm not an expert, but it looks like the partition does not seem to have a UUID anymore. How do I get the swap partition to activate again?

I have setup OpenElec on my raspberry pi and when I browse the files locally stored on my android device I can choose to Play on Media Center through the Yatse app. This way I can stream local files, I can stream youtube streams, I can stream anything that asks me what app I should use to play the media content. I just have to choose play on media center or queue on media center. When I do so, the movie starts on the raspberry pi almost immediately.

Now how would I do this on my (Ubuntu) laptop? How would I open movies directly on the openelec media center from my laptop? Preferably I would like to click open with... and then choose openelec media center.

I had to recover a bunch of movie files from my external HDD due to filesystem corruption and used photorec to do so. Now all my files have random names like f00000.avi. We are talking about 1000+ movies here, so renaming them manually would be pretty tedious. As I understand, most movie files have their titles stored inside the header as well, so is there a way to quickly rename a bunch of files by replacing the random names by the title of the movie?

So I had my partition tables gone corrupt somehow after writing a media file over the network to the external HDD of my media center. Following the steps from this answer, I tried quick- and deepscanning the disk with testdisk, but it couldn't find the (only) partition that was on the disk. This is what it says in the log file

It keeps saying it finds these FAT16 partitions, which shouldn't be correct as the 2TB disk was a NTFS disk with a single partition. So is this going wrong because it wants to look for boot sectors or something? Which obviously aren't available since it was a mere data disk? And can I still recover my data using testdisk? Maybe with different options or something?

I also tried running photorec, but it seems to completely copy the contents of the disk to the location I specify, therefore I had to stop the scan, as I don't have a second 2TB disk just laying around for a scan...

Will I still be able to recover my partition or my data? Would photorec be the way to go if I can find a large enough drive?

Basically what the title says. I'm using ibus for the keyboard layout and have ibus-hangul (re-)installed. Everything worked fine until I upgraded to Ubuntu 14.10. I can still switch to Korean, as can be seen in the picture. Yet the letters that Ubuntu lets me type in Korean-mode are not Hangul as you can see, since I wrote this entirely in Korean-language-mode. So how do I fix this?

With 14.04 I installed a network printer, hosted on a different windows PC. Everything worked fine, but after upgrading to 14.10 I get the error that I can't print. When trying to open the properties of said printer it said

There was a problem connecting to the CUPS server

So I wanted to reinstall the printer, and what I did before was

1. Click Windows Printer via SAMBA
2. Click "Browse..." to browse the samba network for the printer
3. Select the printer

Now in 14.10 I get stuck at the second step as the "Browse..." button is disabled. How do I enable it again?

I'm trying to run League of Legends through PlayOnLinux on ubuntu 14.04. Everything worked perfectly, until the game would start. I can heard the game noises, but then the game would crash. Trying to figure out the problem I clicked emulate a virtual desktop and run the game again. Now everything seemed to be working and I could run the game smoothly without problems. So what would the difference be between emulating it in a virtual desktop and not doing so, in order to pinpoint the problem...

I have 3 layers of networks at home.

192.168.2.XXX is part of 192.168.1.XXX.
192.168.1.XXX is part of 192.168.0.XXX.

My samba server is placed on the 192.168.0.XXX network.

When using ES File Explorer on my phone to browse the LAN, the server is found regardless of the network I'm logged on to. On my computer (Lubuntu 14.04) it only seems to search within the current network, so unless I specifically connect to the 192.168.0.XXX network it can't be found by going to PCManFM > Go > Network > Windows Network. How can I make Windows Network search for super networks as well?

My Macbook 3,1 can connect to my router, but cannot use the connection. I have tried to solve this problem, but not smart enough to do so. That's why I'm turning to you.

• On Windows XP through both wifi and ethernet with home router
• On Mac OSX 10.5 through both wifi and ethernet with home router

How I am not able to connect to the internet:

I am able to connect to the router as shown in the picture below, but somehow I can't use the connection. I can't even ping to the router itself, while the laptop is showing up in the DHCP list of connections with the correct MAC address and the same Assigned IP address as you can see in the picture.

I am completely lost at to what the problem might be. Anybody knows where the problem might lay?!

I'm using Nemo as my file manager and when I press the right mouse button the only option to sort my Desktop is by Name.

Is it possible to sort by other values, like Date Modified?

I have a dual monitor setup where I have placed a 1280x1024 resolution monitor to the left and a 1920x1080 resolution monitor to the right. Internally it looks like Ubuntu (14.04) changes the total resolution to 3200x1080. So because I have placed the smaller monitor left, where the desktop's icons are oriented towards, the icons fall slightly off the screen. The 56 extra pixels ubuntu created at the bottom of my smaller monitor are filled with content, which obviously isn't visible. I have set "Scale all window contents to match" to the smaller monitor, but that didn't change much. Actually changing that setting doesn't change anything visibly or at least that I could see. So how do I go about changing how ubuntu handles this? Or should I always keep the bigger monitor (in height) to the left as a rule of thumb?

I booted my computer today and I don't know what happened, but all my USB devices aren't working anymore (webcam, mouse, keyboard, external drive). I can see them being connected through sudo lsusb, but Ubuntu doesn't let me use them. How do I get them back?

Gnome-system-monitor shows, under resources, three things, namely CPU, Memory and Network History. Is there a Lubuntu equivalent which shows me these things? As far as I've noticed, Lubuntu has Task Manager but this only shows CPU and memory usages, without any history charts and without any network information.

Yesterday I noticed a Google notification indicator when Google Chrome updated to Version 35.0.1916.114.

How can I remove it and stop Google from changing my desktop like that?

In ubuntu (14.04) wifi cards can be enabled/disabled by clicking 'enable Wi-Fi', how can I get this feature in Lubuntu too?

I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 for almost a week now and tried Deluge 1.3.6 (through the ppa their website provided), but it keeps crashing. I don't really know why it does though. I had searched the internet for more information on it, but couldn't find the reason nor a solution. I tried deluge 1.3.5 without the ppa, which crashed also.

I noticed that the versions of libtorrent differ when asking deluge or the package manager.

While it says 0.15.10-1 in the package manager after libtorrent-rasterbar6. Not sure if this is related to the problem though.

Since the crash report is quite large, I didn't really know what information to provide, but I read deluge was supposedly be a good torrent client for Ubuntu, so what do you think the problem is and what can I do to fix this?

@Rinzwind: The warning is when starting Deluge, the segmentation fault is when it crashes.
