So I had Ubuntu 20.04 installed on my PC. Then I installed Kubuntu 20.04 alongside my Ubuntu. But after reboot the GRUB menu was not updated at all. It's like Kubuntu installation did not update my GRUB menu. I am using UEFI so maybe that is the problem? How do I add Kubuntu menu option to my GRUB now?
P.S. I tried Grub Customizer, but that did nothing.
So Ubuntu 21.10 comes with Gnome 40 but I am wondering how I might install the older Gnome 3.36 instead? What are the steps necessary to do this?
Since the built-in nautilus Google Drive is so super slow, I was wondering if there is a way to have my Google Drive contents automatically downloaded to a local folder and then when I make a change it would automatically sync?
Basically, I would like to create a /home/user/Google-Drive where to sync my existing Google Drive. So that all my Drive files would be locally on my machine.
When I connect an external monitor through USB-C my system freezes completely and the fans start spinning full speed and I can't do anything. It was working before but now all of the sudden it has stopped working. I used to be able to connect 2 extra external monitors (through HDMI and USB-C)
P.S. When I connect the monitor and then turn on the computer then it hangs at the splash loading screen.

I'm trying to learn about Linux and how Ubuntu with Gnome is started from the moment I turn on my computer.
I understand that first the kernel starts and after it has finished booting it runs the init program (upstart?). Then upstart looks at some config files (somewhere?) and runs X and gnome-shell?
So what is the sequence and where are all the config files that say when and what gets started?
I have just installed the latest Ubuntu 14.04 and I would like to install KDE along side my Gnome/Unity that I have now. How can I do this?

I am using the latest version of Ubuntu 13.10 with Unity, and I am wondering how I can assign the euro sign (€) to one of my keys. I knew how to do it on older versions of Ubuntu, but I don't know now.
When I press Shift+4 it shows the $ sign. But I would also like to get the euro sign... maybe if I press Alt+4?
I wanted to ask what graphical GRUB editors are there for the latest Ubuntu release (13.10)? And how do I install one? I searched through the Ubuntu Software Center but I can't find anything there.

But this old version can't export Firefox 4 menus. It was updated in 2010.:(

I need to start the GNOME 2 desktop environment manually from scratch but have a few questions. This is an experiment, you can call it a school project.
I need to make a /usr/share/xsessions entry that will start the gnome desktop without starting "gnome-session" but rather each app that is required manually.
Obviously, I will need a script because there are several applications that need to be launched. I know i need to start gnome-panel and networking, and nautilus, and gtk, could someone point me in the right direction as of how it should look like (apps that need to be started and in what order)?

I am using 10.10 and I would like to set up Hot Corners. Can I do this with Compiz? How? I tried Ubuntu Tweak but it did not let me choose a specific application to run on Hot Corners (it only show windows/workspaces etc.).

I saw in the latest release of PinguyOS that somehow they had skype under the messaging menu. It looked something like this:
How did they do this? Right now I have Empathy under the Messaging Menu and skype seperately on the notification area but I'd like to move Skype also under the Messaging Menu just like in that picture... How is this done?
I followed the instructions for compiling GNOME Shell and it did compile with a few errors here and there but it didn't run. I installed GNOME Shell using sudo apt-get install gnome-shell but I got version 2.31.x, while the latest is 2.91.5 or something. So is there a way for me to install the latest build?

I don't mean the flash player here, I'm talking about the flash program that I can make animations with. Like Adobe Flash CS (formerly known as Macromedia flash). Is there a program on linux that I can make animations? I want to make a movie like animator vs animation. I used easy gif animator on windows lol it was a bit harder than flash but I'm on linux and I'd like to know what it has to offer. Worse case scenario, what gif animators are there on linux.
I managed to change the selection color from orange to light gray which is very nice.
Now I'd like to change the text color of inactive/disabled menu items which are in black as you can see "Available" "Away" and "Busy", the text is black. I'd like it to be gray for example.
How to change the color of that text?
