The right-click doesn't work in the Linux window menu. By "conveniently" I mean:
The flight mode key and enable/disable touch-pad keys work on the other hand. The lock screen key for some reason makes a character appear in the password entry box.
Also, the volume settings appear to be separate for when I am logged in and for when I am logged out.
I use Lenovo ideapad 510-15IKB.
For example there is no VirtualBox, Texmaker, LyX, calibre, Redshift.
I have ran sudo apt update and sudo apt full-upgrade. I have not used BleachBit. The only thing wrong in my computer seems to be that I often get an error message like this one when I run sudo apt update:

Things I tried that did not help:
As advised in Library corruption error during apt-get update, I ran sudo apt install --reinstall libappstream3 and then sudo apt purge libappstream3, and then I also restarted my computer. Then I ran sudo apt install --reinstall libappstream3 again sudo apt install --reinstall libappstream4 and I restarted the computer again.
The current version which is 2.55.0 is not working for me and does not support my Pocketbook Inkpad 3 ebook reader and other ways of installation are too complicated for me.
I have tried a machine with Ubuntu 16.04 32- and 64-bit and Ubuntu 17.10 64-bit several times. Intel Virtualisation is enabled in BIOS. Secure boot is disabled. It happens on kernels 4.13.0-26-generic and 4.13.0-31-generic. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I installed and purged gnome-boxes earlier. An example of a consequence of that is that a system user Libvirt Qemu still appears on the login screen and I am afraid that removing it might break something. Interestingly, VirtualBox seemed to work well when I installed it inside an Ubuntu 16.04 virtual machine in the aforementioned gnome-boxes although unsurprisingly the machines run by it were very slow.
I want to install VLC using a GUI but I don't know which one I should choose.
When I plug in my tablet it does nothing and it is not detected by Wacom Tablet mode in Settings.
I have already read tons of different threads, I have installed the Kernel Driver, and X Driver from this page http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Downloads and created a file etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-wacom.conf exactly the same like this one here http://sourceforge.net/p/linuxwacom/xf86-input-wacom/ci/master/tree/conf/50-wacom.conf
There is no result. The only trace that the tablet is plugged in is that when I write lsusb in the terminal, the output is:

Please, help! I don't want to waste my money!
I want to buy one of these two graphics tablets. I've heard that the i405x model is newer so I would prefer to buy this one, however I've also heard that there can be problems with making it work on Linux (or maybe this issue has been fixed?) and I haven't heard that anyone had any problems with the i405 model. Does any of you has one of these models? Do they work?
After restarting my laptop the Alternative Characters Key doesn't work. Although it is set as Right Alt I can't enter Polish characters such as "ł,ó,ą,ę,ż,ź,ć,ń" using it. I always have to go to System Settings -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts -> Typing and there I just have to change any one of the shortcuts to something else (for example 'disabled') for a moment and then set it again to the previous value. This is really unexpected but after this typing works fine, however it drives me mad that I have to do it every time I start my laptop!
The problem may have started when I installed Wine and a game 'Heroes of Might and Magic III' but I'm not sure. It may as well have begun when I installed some other programmes for Ubuntu such as audio-recorder or lmms. I have tried removing all the recently installed programs including wine but nothing solved the problem. Please, help!
When I am in my home folder there is a padlock on my Desktop icon. In properties there is written that root is the owner of Desktop and consequently I can't put anything on my Desktop.
I have recently installed this Ubuntu 14.04 and I would like to know why does the desktop icon belong to root while it wasn't so in Ubuntu 12.04 that I used earlier.
I know how to change the owner of a file using the command "chown" (or maybe this won't work for Desktop?) but I am afraid that it could somehow impair my security so first I would like to know the reason of this default setting.
