Shortly after trading a tablet for a Toshiba Satellite Click 2 (Hybrid touchscreen laptop) I installed Linux. I soon found out that there is a bug in the kernel that results in Linux intermittently crashing on BayTrail integrated graphics devices. So to make sure it wasnt an installation problem I tried out different Ubuntu desktop environments distros and other Linux distros like Manjaro. Same problem. I installed Android x86 and the same problem occurs. It will be running fine and then it shuts off without any warning as if the battery were yanked from the device or the power plug was pulled. Dead. I then have to boot it back up. I installed Windows 10 and it doesnt crash so it is for sure that bug. I googled and found the "intel_idle.max_cstate=1" kernel boot flag. As well as the boot flag "intel_pstate=disable".

I applied these boot flags both from the GRUB menu at boot and then in the /etc/default/grub file. I still get random crashes. They are not isolated to any action or application either. Any way to fix this?

When in Unity 8, there is no onscreen keyboard when I am using my Toshiba satellite without my physical keyboard. The touch works perfect but no on screen keyboard. In settings it says: "On-Screen Keyboard" and says zero and when i click on that setting it is just a blank screen. I tried installing onboard through Libertine but that doesnt integrate the input with the Unity 8 desktop sadly. Is there a way to get an onscreen keyboard in the 16.10 Unity 8 preview?

Before anything else, yes I have read most of the other threads on the site about Xbox One controllers. They have not helped. I have my Xbox One Controller on Ubuntu 14.04 with linux kernel 4.3.3 and I plug it in through USB because it is the stock one that is by default wireless but plugging it in works when I use Manjaro Linux. I have installed Antimicro controller mapper, xboxdrv package, joystick package and other stuff like that and I cant get anything to map, or the controller to work at all with any of my Steam games. Has anyone figured this out and can help me? I would love it!

So here is the problem that I am having. I came back to Ubuntu from Manjaro linux and enjoy the beautiful design. I was always a fan of the login screen/manager for Ubuntu. It was very sleek looking but I'm not sure what the official name of it was/is. With the new install of 14.04 I have noticed that all I get at the login screen is my username to login and a boring gray and noisy background. I don't recognize this login manager but everything is centered and kinda boring. How do I get back to the original, fancy Ubuntu login manager? Thanks! Any help is appreciated!
