No system tray detected after latest update for some applications

  • 9

Just after latest update of my Ubuntu 20.04 from Dec 21, 2020 I am getting HPLIP message:

HPLIP Status service
No system tray detected on this system.
Unable to start, exiting.

And also zoom meeting application system tray icon disappeared while Zoom runs fine itself. Zoom started from autostart menu: startup apps Zoom icon appears at systray if started manually.

No Chrome icon in system tray since update to 70

  • 1

After update chrome-stable to latest version 70 there is no more Chrome icon in system tray on Ubuntu 16.04 and no convenient way to access installed Chrome Apps.

Any ideas whether it is permanent change from Google or there is a way to fix?

Huge elements on secondary monitor with lower resolution

  • 2

Ubuntu 16.04 installed on ASUS UX305 ultrabook with QHD resolution (3200x1800) of built-in display.

Connecting secondary monitor Dell 24" with 1920x1200 resolution over HDMI I am getting huge control elements on it.

Scaling in "All settings-Displays" doesn't help.

Note: Built-in is scaled to 2 as it's the only way to make it readable and convenient look.

How to get external monitor scaled independently from main built-in?

Simultaneous Ctrl_L+Shift layout switch doesn't operate as before

  • 1

After using gnome-tweak-tool on my 15.04 with Unity the keyboard layout switch (Ctrl L+Shift) doesn't work as before.

Now I always have to complete the exact sequence: press Shift first and hold it, then press Ctrl L.

Simultaneous Ctrl_L+Shift doesn't work anymore and I don't know how to get it back.

Even custom setting of layout switch to "Ctrl L+Shift" doesn't help.

"Starting version 219" after kernel upgrade to 3.19.0-18

Today after kernel upgrade from 3.19.0-16 to 3.19.0-18 lightdm fails to start.

GPU driver is fglrx installed from "Additional drivers" tab of "Software & updates".

Try to enable service by running

sudo systemctl enable lightdm.service -f

doesn't help because service failed to start. See syslog:

Fresh installation of Ubuntu 15.04.
Running Settings-Color-Calibrate Have "Eye-one display 2" sensor connected and working. Getting the message during step be step calibration configuration: "calibration error unknown calibration display type selection"

This never happened in 14.04 or 14.10 where calibration went smoothly with this color calibration sensor device.
