I want to change the icon of a desktop shortcut created from Chrome Menu -> More Tools -> Create shortcut. But changing it on the desktop file does not modifies the icon on gnome menu. Is there a way to do this?
Esteban Knöbl's questions
I am currently experiencing some random screen flickering after a fresh install. I have a Lenovo laptop with Mesa Intel® UHD Graphics 620 (KBL GT2). It was working fine on 21.10.
I did a fresh install of 22.04 and installed Stremio 4.4 (latest vesion). When I try to open the app, I get this error: "error while loading shared libraries: libcrypto.so.1.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".
How can I fix it? It was running great on 20.04.
Since upgrading to 21.10, I've been having two issues in the dock.
- Sometimes, the system won't let me add certain apps to favorites. The option does not appear when right clicking the icon. This seems to be random, though. Meaning, in another session, I might be able to do it.
- Some apps in favorites duplicate in the dock when I open them. The new icon appear below favorites.
Have any of you experienced this?
The volume function keys on my laptop get stucked. I press them once or twice, and the volume goes all the way up or down. Sometimes the keyboard even stops working for a few seconds after that.
I tried the solution offered in the post lenovo z470 keyboard gets stuck but it didn't helped.
Update: I am no longer having this problem after upgrading to 19.10 beta.
PlayOnLinux starts fine. When I select Internet Explorer 8 for installation, the virtual disk is created, but then it hangs, just before the installation wizard begins. A new window is created in the dock, but when maximized it shows nothing but a vertical line.
I found this in the log:
Wine cannot find the FreeType font library. To enable Wine to
use TrueType fonts please install a version of FreeType greater than
or equal to 2.0.5.

Any ideas?
I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 18.04, alongside Windows 10. On Ubuntu, one of my fans is extremely high, although the temperature is fine, and this is not happening on Windows. I've tried some of the solutions suggested in this forum, without success.
The one with the problem seems to be nct6775/fan2, at least it is the only one working at +1155 rpm, according to program HardInfo. My motherboard is an ASUS H81M-A.
I bought a TP-Link wireless nano USB adapter (TL-WN725N V2) to replace a malfunctioning PCI wireless card on my desktop computer. When I plug the USB adapter, the system recognizes all available networks, but it won't connect. It asks me for my password, start connecting... and then my password again, as if I'd put a wrong one. But I'm sure the password is ok.
The PCI card has been removed.
I use Lubuntu 16.04.02, and have a dual boot with Windows 7. In windows the adapter works fine.
I use Adobe Connect to host online meetings. For some features to work I need to use a special version of flash designed for that product called Adobe Connect Add-in, which integrates into the web browser. However, there is no Add-in for Linux. Would it possible to install this Add-in on Chrome or Firefox through Wine?
I work with moodle sites, and in one of them my browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Opera) stop working whenever I activate edit mode on Moodle. They just stay loading the page when I try to edit anything on the site, for a couple of minutes, after which they return to the home page.
This happens while running Ubuntu (I tested on Ubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu Gnome, Linux Mint) but not on Windows, nor Fedora. Additionaly, this does not happen on browsers based on Webkit, at least not on Epiphany or Midori.
This particular site is on Moodle 2.9.5+ (Build: 20160317). All browsers are up to date.
So far I could only determine that this is a javascript related issue. But why does it affects only my browsers running on Ubuntu, I can`t tell.
I'm using Tomboy on my notebook and Tomdroid on my phone. I would like notes between these two to be synchronized. Both apps have the capability to sync using an online server, as it was back in the days of Ubuntu One. Is there any public server available I can use to do this? I don't want to install Rainy myself.
Best regards.
I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 16.04 and found that menus for many applications do not show on the menu bar, as it is configured in 'Settings > Appearance'. For example: menus for Filezilla, Geary, Libreoffice Writer and Software center do not show. I have not tested every app, but I can tell you that browsers (Chrome, Firefox) do have their menus on the menu bar. In addition, if I change the configuration to show menus "in the window's title bar", they don't show either.
Any clues?
Best regards.
folks.
Is there any way to add a new keyboard shortcut on lubuntu 14.04? I would like to add Alt+64 shortcut for making "@".
Best regards.
I've got a network with several machines running Ubuntu 12.04 and one server running Windows7. The server has many shared folders. I've managed to connect to those folders and add them inside nautilus as bookmarks, so they mount whenever I click on them, which is fine. Now I'd like to add those same folder on the desktop, but I can't find a way to do it.
Even when I did manage to connect my Google Nexus to Ubuntu, I think it would be great to have mtp support right from the start.
Every time I logoff from Ubuntu 12.04 I get a black screen. If I logon again as if I could really see what I'm doing, the screen returns to normal. This doesn't happen with other two users on the same machine, with both of them I can logoff withouth problems. Any clues?
I would very much like to be able to mount iso images on my file system while getting wine to detect them as if they were real cd/dvd images inside the cd/dvd drive. As of this day I haven't been able to do it with Furious Iso Mount or GMountIso. This is an issue when trying to play a game on wine: I can mount an image and install the game perfectly, but when it comes to play the game I get the "please insert your cdrom" message. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding something about mounting; on Windows, I used Daemon Tools just fine.
Any clues?
Hello, world.
My computer turned off while banshee was updating my music library. Now I can't open it. The error says: "found a fatal error. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation."
Any clues?
I was wondering if you would know a way to integrate audacious in the sound menu, just like banshee. The plugin inside audacious to put a status icon doesn't seem to do it.
Hello, world.
I recently installed ubuntu 11.10. I had been using 10:10, and did a reinstall to start fresh on this new version. The thing is I encountered myself with more than a few diferences, mostly in settings.
Now I can't seem to find the means to configuring my screensaver. ¿Where are screensaver settings?
