I recently updated from Ubuntu 19.04 to 19.10 and noticed the multimedia keys such as Play and Stop stopped working in Kodi. Whenever I press a multimedia key, it only shows a big crossed circle icon (also in desktop). I tried to enable/disable the shortcuts for the multimedia keys, but it didn't work. I also cannot create a new shortcut with the multimedia keys, because the big icon already appears when pressing the key. I'm no more sure if I had to disable or enable the shortcuts in 19.04 though.

I'm not sure, if it is related, but the Ubuntu upgrade finished not clean. It ended in console and I had to reset my PC. However everything seems to work correctly besides the multimedia keys.

Any help would be appretiated.

I use Ubuntu 16.04 under VirtualBox. Today I updated VirtualBox to 5.0.26. After it I updated the Ubuntu using GUI, but the update has frozen during grub update. After reset, it started normally and I finished the update manually from command line.

Now, after logging in the Unity does not start. I can reach the terminal via popup menu and start the Unity manually via the terminal using "unity -v" command. Interestingly without the "-v" option the unity does not start. I tried to reinstall unity and this without success. Any idea?

I had fully working 64bit Ubuntu 14.04 under VirtualBox 4.3.20. I then updated ubuntu and virtualbox and now I can login but the Unity will not display because compiz crashes with segmentation fault - I have only background without any UI. It seems to be something related to opengl.

Segmentation fault (core dumped)

It seems to be something corrupted in my installation because Ubuntu 14.04 live CD booted from the same virtualbox works without any problems.
