I'm having an issue with my audio on Skype. If I do a video call without having used another application before the audio works fine. However when I'm watching a video on youtube, or stream web-radio or use messenger for calls first and then try to do a video call on Skype there's no audio at all (skype is muted, system audio still works fine)! It seems like only one application can process the sound card at a single time. How to fix this issue?

I'm having a fresh installation of 18.04 and before I switch when I was on 16.04 I had no issues at all, I could use Skype and everything else (youtube videos, seb-radio) at the same time.

On my desktop I always have plugged in two usb ports my two external hard drives. I'm having a 16GB Kingstone usb stick which I try to plug to another free usb port but can't detect it. I have run the fdisk -l and outputs this

Also on media folder I can only see the 2 external hard drives and not the usb stick. Any help please?

I have installed the Messenger for Desktop app on my 16.04. Everytime I launch the application I get this javascript error seing on screenshot below

However when I click OK the the app launches properly. I haven't detected any issues so far, however I was wondering if anyone else has faced the same issue and how to solve it.

Edit I have noticed that I don't get a notification or any indication when some of my contacts texts me when the app is minimized. I'm not sure if this is a bug occured from this issue or whether is missing from the linux version in general (which probablly is still a bug)

I have plugged an external hard drive and I get some folders ($RECYCLE.BIN and System Volume Information) that on Windows are hidden, refer to my screenshot. I'm not sure whether its safe to delete them but is there a way to hide these folders on Ubuntu too?

I'd like some feedback if possible as I'm not an expert on this. I'd like to install Ubuntu 16.04 LTs on my desktop as the main OS (no dual boot etc). My motherboard is MSI 970 Gaming.

In order to do the installation do I need to disable Fast boot (screenshot 1) and UEFI mode (screenshot 2) - the Boot mode select in my case says Legacy UEFI so I'm not sure whats the difference from UEFI?

I'm planning to do a fresh OS installation, but first I want to backup my .ssh folder in order to keep my ssh keys. Can I copy it into a usb stick and if so how can I do this? Do I need to do any extra steps in order to "restore" the ssh keys on my new installation?

My desktop has Windows 10, I have installed Ubuntu 16.04 LTs on VirtualBox and on the vm settings I have set a shared folder

When I try to access the shared folder from Ubuntu I get this error:

I have Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on virtual box and I'd like to install elasticsearch in order to use it with Ruby on Rails. I've done a search on google on how to do the installation, but I have found mutiple guides that have a few differences which got me a little bit confused, for instance:

How should I install elasticsearch safely, without messing up my development environment?

I have followed the steps to add a ssh key on my GitHub account. Now I want to do the same thing and for my BitBucket account. Do I need to ssh-keygen again for my Bitbucket or can I use the same key that I used for my GitHub?

I have set up Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on VirtualBox.

Everything seems to work ok so far, but every time I launch VirtualBox I get this pop-up with a warning message.

I believe this warning started to appear when I changed the number of processor cores of the VM in Settings.

Is this a big issue and if so how can I fix this ?

I have just installed Ubuntu on virtualbox, however I have noticed when opening or minimizing an application, like firefox, is getting a little bit slow.

Is it safe to increase the cpu usage to 2 (currently is set to 1) on vm settings after the installation, or is it something I should have done it before ?

And is it safe in general to change settings of my vm after the installation ?

I'm having a 6-core processor and ram 16GB (have set it to 2048 GB on vm settings)

I have this PHP script:

Which creates a folder for storing posts' images. However I'm getting this error / warning:

Severity: Warning
Message:  mkdir(): Permission denied

and I can't create the folder.

How can I fix this? My folder structure looks like this:

/opt/lampp/htdocs/www/my-site/public/ (uploads/posts) // all folders inside files will generate in php

Some further information: if I comment this code, manually create the posts folder and then try to upload a file I get an error saying that the destination path is not writable.
