I use Ubuntu Studio 20.04.3 LTS with WineHQ 6.0.1 (to run old MS-Windows native software).

When I use the old (but still so good) Adobe Audition 1.5, I cannot to use 32 bit audio.

I mean, If I converted some audio piece from 16 bit to 32 bit, I just get white noise.

Of course, it is not something related with Ubuntu Studio system because I can use 32 bit audio, so fine, with Audacity and other Linux native apps.

I wonder if this is a WineHQ limitations, or something is wrong with my installation parameters.

Any idea?

Also, I often use Logo programming language.

Since a while (I'm not sure when this issue started), I get this rare characters each time I start UCBLogo (the native Linux app, installed from Synaptic Packages Manager):

Of course, I can change it, manually, with the UCBLogo panel menu (Fonts).

But... Why is this?

What's wrong, here?

How can I avoid this rare behaviour?

I downloaded and tried to install the last available version of COMODO AntiVirus for Linux, from its official page, but it cannot to be installed because the following reason:

Cannot to satisfied the dependency: libssl0.9.8 (>=0.9.8m-1)

Can we fix this issue?

Is there some real-time action AntiVirus for Linux 64 bits?

It is intended to have a real-time protection always running (because ClamAV just works when we ask that from the app, not in real-time mode).

I'm using Ubuntu Studio 20.04 LTS, upgraded from 18.04, upgrade from 16.04 LTS.

Because some problem (not related with this question), I discovered I have a folder called /etc/apt/sources.list.d

Where I can find a lot of files with references to older Ubuntu Studio versions (eoan and bionic).

Can I safely erase all those files?

I want to know if there is some Linux native app (with GUI) to eliminate duplicate files, not only related with the names of the files, but its content.

I'm talking about to compare the lenght and the internal values to get if there are duplicated files even if their names aren't the same (example: the same video with different names in different folders).

Is there something like that? Where?

My main desktop PC has a H61M-P31/W8 (MS-7788) (MSI) motherboard, with Intel i5-3330 CPU @ 3.00GHz.

The internal audio card is reported as: Intel Corporation 6 series/C200 Series Chipset Family.

Also, I used this audio card, connected through USB audio cable interface, with a Behringer Xenix 1204USB Audio Mixer (reported as PCM2902 audio digital duplex).

I've used Jack Audio Connection Kit with Ubuntu Studio 18.04.3 and 19.04 with the explained configuration and not major problems. I mean: I got audio from and to the computer.

But, I upgraded the OS to the last 19.10 version and now... I cannot to get audio THROUGH Jack Connection Kit!

All the used connections and apps are exactly the same, but... There is not any audible sound!

Even the fact that the PasysTray (Pulse Audio Volume Control) is showing me that there is audio in the Jack audio channels... I cannot to hear it from my speakers and/or headphones connected to the main amplifier through the Behringer mixer.

I have to close Jack Audio Connection Kit to get some audio.

What's wrong here?

I use Ubuntu Studio 18.04.3, with additional backports PPA to get LTS.

By mistake, from Synaptic Package Manager, I installed an app called: "cqrlog".

That app is useful (I guess) to the Ham Radio world, but... It is not my case, now.

So... I want to uninstall it, but... I cannot to do it!

I've tried the standard line commands:

sudo apt autoremove --purge cqrlog
sudo apt auto-remove cqrlog
sudo apt autoclean

But... Nothing!

I just get the following error message (direct translated from the Spanish message):

dpkg: error when processing the package cqrlog (--remove):

Installed cqrlog package post-removal hyphen the subprocess gaves the output status 1

Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

What's wrong here?

Why I cannot to uninstall this app?

I use Ubuntu Studio 18.04.2, 64 bit Linux (with the extended support) Operating System.

I don't know why but, today one of my desktop PCs doesn't have pulseaudio working.

I tried: pulseaudio -k, first and then: pulseaudio -D but, I just got the messages:

Fail to stop the daemon because it is not working.

Fail to start the daemon.

So I went to Synaptic Packages Manager and I uninstalled, first, and then I reinstalled all about pulseaudio

But it doesn't work.

It doesn't start at startup.

Even more, I tested if I had sound from some apps (audacity, musescore, firefox) and... Nothing! There is no sound!

I have the exactly same Linux OS in my 3 PCs (two desktops and one laptop) and this issue is just present in one of my desktop, only, since today!

I don't know what to do to rescue the pulseaudio daemon!

What's wrong here?

What can I do to fix this?

BTW: If it could possible..., Can we use ALSA only? How can we switch between pulseaudio and ALSA at any time?

I use UbuntuStudio 18.04.2 LTS (64 bit Linux) and MuseScore 3.0.5 (last official available version, not the Portable AppImage).

I have a very weird rare with this software: each time I start this app... I don't get sound from it!

I have to perform a very rare internal procedure (inside MuseScore) to get sound:

Inside the "Preferences" Menu, Input/Output tab, MuseScore has a button labeled as "Restart all audio and MIDI devices". I have to click on that button to get sound. It is this way almost each time I start MuseScore.

BTW: I use ALSA audio system with MuseScore because the other options (Pulse and PortAudio) gives me some random clicks and pops while the music is sounding. The other possible audio option is JACK but I don't know how to use it.

With the older versions of this software I didn't have this issue.

Can somebody tell me something about this issue?

Maybe some audio library incompatibility? ???

I use UbuntuStudio 18.04.1 LTS and WineHQ 3.0.4.

The WineHQ installation is as 64 bit version and it works so fine.

But... I want to install an specific version of Adobe AIR which, because some reason, its installer doesn't run into 64 bit WineHQ.

However, believe it or not, once we can install that Adobe AIR version, it runs so fine into WineHQ 64 bit mode!

In other words, it is some bug with the Adobe AIR installer only!

Can I run that installer into 32 bit WineHQ only, but in a temporary mode (without to change all the WineHQ installation itself)?

I use UbuntuStudio 18.04.1 LTS into an HP 250 G5 laptop computer.

It has an internal SATA 1 TB hard disk, partitioned with the EFI, ROOT, and HOME partitions. EFI partition is formatted as FAT. ROOT and HOME partition are formatted as ext4. Of course, there is a SWAP partition too.

The issue is that the command: stat .bash_logout, tells me that the hard disk sector size is 4096. But, Gparted tells me that the hard disk sector size is only 512!

Why the difference?

If the real sector size is 512... Can I change it to 4096, without to lose data? How?

Does somebody know if there is something like/similar to the typical Windows chkdsk or scandisk utilities (to check NTFS drives, of course) into Linux (Ubuntu)?

The last version of COMODO AntiVirus for Linux, 64 bits version, cannot be installed on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, 64 bits.

However, the 32 bits version of the program can be installed into a 64 bits OS, but... Is this a good idea?

Please, I need some help here, because it is intended to protect an "always connected" PC, with Ubuntu Studio 16.04 LTS (and the idea is to be "always" protected, a thing which we cannot get with CLAMAV).

I use Ubuntu Studio 15.10, in my desktop PC, and Lubuntu 15.10, in my laptop.

With both OS, I get strange characters into the downloaded file names from Internet. I mean, file names with spanish (latin) characters, originally.

For example: if the original file name is:

Danos, ¡Oh, Dios! (versión simplificada).mid,

I get:

Danos, ┬бOh, Dios! (versi├│n simplificada).mid

How can I fix it?

I have all the regional language (Spanish, Chile and Spain) files installed and working, without errors.

As all we know, Windows software has its own icons, normally as a *.icon file into the app directory.

Is there a way to use these Windows *.icon files (graphic images) as the icon image of the Wine apps?

I want to install JAVA, but the installation instructions ask me to create a new folder, called /java/, into the standard /usr/ folder.

But this folder is blocked. I mean, I can not to create a new folder on it, with the PCManFM file manager, because that option is grey.

So I guess there should be a command to create it from a Terminal session. (With sudo, maybe?)

How can I get it? Which is the right command to get it?

I use Lubuntu 15.10 (upgraded from 15.04).

Because some reason, I don't have the wallpaper, or background, folders to the desktop, now. There is no any folder with that names on my PC.

How can I recover it?

It is intended to change the "new" ugly Lubuntu default wallpaper (something like a crystal edges mosaic, or a broken glass).

If it isn't possible... How can I change it?

From where can I get free wallpapers to Lubuntu?
