I am running Xubuntu 20.04 on amd64.

When I installed a Korean keyboard layout ("input method") through IBus, a small window appeared on my screen.

Using xwininfo I found that this window is titled "ibus-ui-gtk3".

The window has options relating to the Korean input method (e.g. a button to toggle between hangul and hanja). However, the window never goes away, even when I switch to a different input method (e.g. English).

How do I make this window go away, or at least only show up when using the Korean input method?

When I run less file.txt (for example) in a terminal, I can use the mouse wheel to scroll through file.txt.

When running less file.txt in a byobu pane, one of two things happens when I scroll with the mouse wheel:

If byobu mouse-mode is off, the entire terminal scrolls, pushing byobu itself off the screen and nothing is passed to less.

If byobu mouse-mode is on, then the pane enters scrollback mode with the [10/220] line counter in the top corner, and nothing is passed to less.

How do I configure byobu to send mouse events through to the pane in which I am scrolling?

I am using xfce4-terminal on Xubuntu 20.04.

I installed minidlna to play local media files over my home network. I symlinked my ~/Videos/ folder to /var/lib/minidlna/Videos, and DLNA peers on the network can see what files are available, but whenever a peer attempts to play a file, it fails, saying that it cannot connect to the server.

I have IBus installed on Lubuntu 18.04.1 64-bit, and some languages work properly, while others just have the US English layout.

The Hangul Korean input engine (ibus engine output hangul) works (al gives 미 in Hangul mode), but Swedish and Spanish XBD input (ibus engine output xbd:se::swe and xbd:es::spa, respectively) do not (the keyboard layout is exactly the same as US).

The m17n:sv:post postfix Swedish layout seems to work (oe gives ö).

This leads me to believe that there is a problem involving xkb IBus engines on my computer (whatever that means).

When rotating my display with xrandr --output DVI-0 --rotate left (or right or inverted), i get this weird, sort-of screen tearing effect that doesn't show up in screenshots.

These lines are horizontal with respect to the actual monitor.

I am using Lubuntu 16.04. This used to work fine on Lubuntu 14.04.

I have xserver-xorg-video-all installed (which depends on/also installed xserver-xorg-video-radeon, xserver-xorg-video-ati, and xserver-xorg-video-amdgpu).

This also happens with xrandr --output DVI-0 --reflect x (and y and xy).

Changing the resolution doesn't cause this to happen, but it will happen on any resolution if rotated or reflected. (... --rotate normal --reflect normal is the only orientation that works.)

Edit August 14, 2016: I have tested some more, and the 14.04 live iso works fine (with the radeon driver shown in lspci), but the 16.04 live iso has this problem along with my actual installation (also shows radeon driver).

Edit August 15, 2016: The Ubuntu 15.10 live iso also works correctly.

Edit November 19, 2017: The visual glitches do not affect the cursor.

Is there any way to fix this?

There is a Qt5 app (Musescore), that I am trying to get to work on my second Ubuntu computer.

On my main computer (Lubuntu 16.04), Musescore works fine, but on my second computer (also Lubuntu 16.04), it crashes on startup with the message

This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "xcb".

Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, xcb.

Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
Aborted (core dumped)

I have tried a few solutions, (including installing every libxcb* package in the repos), but nothing has changed.

As far as I can remember, this worked fine a few weeks ago, still on 16.04.

Any suggestions?

Edit: ldd /usr/bin/musescore doesn't give any missing liraries: pastebin.

On Ubuntu 14.04.4 (and previous), there was a message at the top of each tty (1-6) that said

Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS $HOST tty1 #or tty2 etc.

$HOST login:

I upgraded to 16.04 (with sudo do-release-upgrade -d).

During the upgrade, I loaded tty3, and it said

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS $HOST tty3

$HOST login

However, after the upgrade, all the ttys said was

$HOST login:

Without the Ubuntu version or the tty number.

Is this intended for 16.04? If so, is there a way to change it back to showing the version? (like with getty configs or something?)
