I have a phone connected to my Ubuntu 21.10 PC via bluetooth, sharing phone calls and media audio. I basically want to use the PC as a headset with access to two-way audio during calls.

Media from the phone is played on the laptop speakers as expected. Blueman shows that the High Fidelity Capture (A2DP Source) audio profile is selected.

During a call the profile switches to Headset Audio Gateway (HSP). I do get two-way audio:

• Sounds played on the PC are heard on the call.
• Speakers on the call can be recorded on the PC. HOWEVER: this input gets echoed back to the callers.

It seems like call input is treated just like media input: it's played back on whatever output channel is set up. How can I prevent this?

I did try Linux HFP from this answer, but the project is very old and getting it to compile and run on a modern system isn't easy.

I've installed Gnome Flashback and can select it on the log in screen:

Unfortunately, every time I restart I'm automatically logged into the original "Ubuntu" (Gnome 3) environment again. The solutions in these related questions don't work anymore:

Specifically, setting user-session to gnome-flashback-metacity in /usr/share/lightdm/lightdm.conf.d/50-ubuntu.conf has no effect.

I have Samba installed and configured on my Ubuntu 14.04 box. When user1 marks a folder as shared in Nautilus, it becomes visible and accessible on the network without problems.

However, folders shared by user2 cannot be opened on Windows. They're visible, but Windows reports error code "0x80070043 (network path not found)" when you try to open them. I see nothing helpful in the Samba logs on the Ubuntu machine.

user2 is in the sambashare group and is the owner of the directories that needs to be shared. It's not a problem with the network, firewall or global Samba config because other users can share folders without issues. What's going on here?!

I'm assuming sambashare is the important one, right?

EDIT 2:

I see messages like this in /var/log/samba/:

Here's what ls -l looks like for the share by user2. The folder shared successfully by user1 has the exact same permissions.
