I am using Ubuntu Mate 19.04 and Gnote. Its help indicates "In order to use synchronization, you have to configure it first in the Gnote configuration dialog.".

There is no configuration option in the few available options from the "hamburger" menu (new note, new windows, grayed-out Sync..).

Where is this configuration dialog ?

In a fresh install of Ubuntu Mate 19.04 (64 bit) when I try to install Tomboy this is what I get:

$ sudo apt install tomboy
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree       
Reading state information... Done
Package tomboy is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'tomboy' has no installation candidate

sources.list has the Universe repository (as by default), packages.ubuntu.com shows it's not available, and apt-cache search comes back empty and I can't install it.

Is Tomboy completely gone ? Is there another way of geting it in 19.04 ?

I'd appreciate any suggestions on this, I couldn't find previous reports of this problem.

I am using Ubuntu (MATE) 16.04.

I am looking for a GUI search tool to search by creation date. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I've tried:

• MATE search tool - can only search by modified date, by using "Date modified less than" / "...greater than"
• Tracker ("Desktop search") will only permit keyword search (on file names or content).
• Recoll only indicates "file date" search, which matches modification date only.

None of the above can show the creation date in search results (column fields can't be added).

I use CyanogenMod and ClockWork Recovery on my Nexus 7. How can my existing full nandroid backup be used to restore my device after installing Ubuntu?

The instructions assume "recovery" would mean re-flashing the vanilla image, at factory, data-wiped condition.

It would be useful to provide a .zip that can be flashed via Clockwork (or other) recovery usin ROM Manager or booting into recovery and back to whatever Nandroid backup there is - much as any other ROM is provided/used.

Has support for the Intel AES-NI hardware crypto acceleration been added to Ubuntu (LUKS, kernel, OpenSSL libs, etc)? If so, starting with which version?

I am mostly interested in finding out if this effectively suppresses / diminishes any performance penalties of using full disk encryption in Ubuntu.

While doing some support audits I'd like to know what would be the most efficient/compact way to get a list of all extra reporitories being used on a given Ubuntu workstation using command line (not via the GUI tools). So far I am using:

• diff'ing a standard sources.list file against the workstation's
• examining files under cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d

Any other ideas on how to best go about this ?
