Actually since 18.04 (now updated to 18.10) my Gigabyte GA-AX370 Gaming K7 with "Line Out-Family 17h (models 00h-0fh) HD Audio Controller produces a distortion noise in the sound for no reason and all sources. Changing the settings to 5.0 or 5.1 or 2.1 makes it better but only temporary. I have a simple setup with 2 JBL speakers, nothing fancy. Over-Amplification is not on (not that it makes any difference). Appreciate the help.
br116's questions
Can't seem to find anything missing for Sound converter on Ubuntu 18.04 for no longer offering to convert audios to m4a. Any suggestions?
My Microsoft LifeCam VX3000 no longer works on 18.04 using Cheese. Worked before with 16.40 Microphone is fine but no video. No image on Skype either. I can see the camera on "lsusb". VLC error: "VLC is unable to open the MRL 'v4l2:///dev/video0' log: v4l2 error: cannot set format: Device or resource busy v4l2 error: not a radio tuner device v4l2 error: cannot set format: Device or resource busy But works fine on Camorama. Any ideas please?

I'm trying to mount a NAS drive USB connected to my Netgear 4300 router with NO password using 14.04. I have tried several options in the fstab file (including the ones here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MountWindowsSharesPermanently). Some of them don't work at all (device doesn't exist.etc...). The closest I get to make it work with fstab as
//192.168.1.1/readyshare/nas /media/nas cifs user=user,uid=1000,gid=1000,_netdev,auto,noperm,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777,umask=000,iocharset=utf8,sec=ntlm,rw 0 0
The results of sudo mount -a
= Password for user@//192.168.1.1/readyshare/nas
:
What gives and where else can I find more info, please?
I can get to all the folders using "Files".
