I cannot draw arrows and text on top of my screenshots in Ubuntu 22.04 . I was able to do this in flameshot .
I also tried Shutter which is also not enabling me to draw..

Often to draw arrows, I open a jpg and then screenshot to make quick edits with arrows, etc rather than using gimp or inkscape.
I sort of like the pink header on the 22.04 Ubuntu live USB, but on the actual install, that is not there. The only themes are on the accent color.
I wonder why this is not included in the actual install?
How does one get those pink headers? Strange the screenshot does not show this very slight pink header.

I get asked to unlock the keyring (kwallet) every time I open vscode. How do I have the kring work with vscode . I tried disabling kwallet once before and I lost all of my passwords in chrome and network.
Normal keyring suggestions just don't work with kde. I never understood the purpose of keyrings.. it should work with your login and end there.
Keyring for vscode works in Gnome but not kde they say. Is there a way to have chrome save my passwords and like my phone does without kwallet? When I was on eOS (ubuntu 18.04) , I just set the password to "" and everything was fine. Is there a way to do that with kwallet?
I have 20.04 kubuntu. I have my own wifi hotspot from my telephone as my main connection. Hidden and pwd protected.
Every so often my kde wifi connection does not connect and says.. "configuring interface" I try this and then and then reboot and all is fine and connected.
This happened yesterday with another wifi connection also.
Is there are a simple way to not allow a couple of websites?
I tried the /etc/hosts and hosts.deny things and it did not work.

I have Deepin OS and installed Ubuntu Mate as the third OS for recording and KXStudio addons. When I installed Ubuntu Mate, I typed ubiquity -b in the terminal to avoid installing grub. I did this because the Deepin GRUB theme is really nice (hint Ubuntu), and if I install Ubuntu with GRUB, I will lose that Deepin GRUB theme and the ubuntu GRUB will be the active one. Then the Deepin will think it is using a GRUB but it is not "connected" and Ubuntu will use a GRUB that is connected. Since Deepin is my main driver, I want to keep it connected to its GRUB.
So right now, I have an Ubuntu grub that is not connected to the boot grub.
After install of Ubuntu Mate, I did an update-grub while in the Deepin terminal. This added an Ubuntu entry to the Deepin GRUB. After installing low latency, update-grub did not change anything and it still boots generic kernel when I choose Mate from the Deepin GRUB menu).
How do I manually add the low latency to the Deepin GRUB I am using now assuming GRUB is GRUB? Normally, simply installing low latency will add it to GRUB. But it adds it to the wrong GRUB files.
What file do I edit and how?
Deepin has a boot directory, /etc/grub and /etc/default folders inside the root.
I want the Ubuntu boot menu to choose the low-latency kernel instead of generic. (I use uname -r when in Mate.)
Mate also has the same boot and GRUB folders inside the root dir.
I want to wget --mirror into a specified directory.
I can use -P <PATH> but it still makes a subdirectory with the website name.

So when I do a test it downloads into the specified directory, but makes a whole new folder called buddhadust.net

I'm having a problem setting ulimits to unlimited. I am a member of the @audio group Here are the contents of my /etc/security/limits.conf
@audio - rtprio 95
@audio - memlock unlimited
I know audio group is working because I have realtime settings working.
Here is the output of the ulimits -l -r
$ ulimit -r -l
real-time priority (-r) 95
max locked memory (kbytes, -l) 65536
So the realtime is working but the max locked memory is not working. Not sure what got messed up. I don't want to reinstall to make this work Using ubuntu 19.04
I have jack installed too. Maybe this is messing things up. There are two files in the limits.d folder that I created.. but now deleted.
This question has been asked before, but I have a different problem and the posted one is way outdated.
The problem is that I need an old and new firefox running at the same time to run a plugin called "Digital Pali Reader" which will not work with the newer firefox.

It worked like a charm until I ran the new firefox. Then it disabled the plugins which was the goal of running the old version.
I have been trying to put a microphone into my combined headphone/mic port and saw a video on hdajackretask . However, the device is busy when I say to apply. I can install the boot-override file but I cannot apply.
In the video, all he did was shut down alsa-mixer and he got rid of that problem. I did not start any sound devices.
Update: I noticed that pulse audio is running and maybe this effects it. However, when I shut it down, it seems to pop back up. I cannot know what is starting it. I am not sure if this is the reason.
In Gnome 16.10 I cannot get smooth scrolling on the new LibreOffice Writer 5.2.2 It seems to scroll screen lengths instead of you know.. just scrolling. It was fine in gnome 16.04 This "scrolling" refers to using two fingers on the touchpad. It will do the same as pageup and pagedown, instead of line by line (like up and down arrows). I remember and would like it to function like the up and down arrows work.. to move line by line.
I just installed OceanAudio to do simple audio editing tasks which Audacity makes very painful, disk-space intensive (1gb plus per hour) and therefore very slow. It is an awesome program which does not need online help and greets me with a "drop your files here" Awesome!
However, along the way, I got a message from gdebi which said that installing debs outside the the standard repo can be a security risk. With Skype and Opera (don't remind me about Opera's latest breach of data), I don't care and trust they will be OK. However, I know nothing of OceanAudio.
I was wondering what people know about it, and what type of security risks I am looking at with OceanAudio or anything else I might install. For Instance, can someone trap my keystrokes and get Internet Passwords?
It seems that if I have my tether on before booting, there is a strong upload from my system to the phone. However, it also seems that nothing is being uploaded from my phone to the internet.
How can I know what it is. I see something like nethogs, but I do not see anything really eating bandwidth. but I do not know how to give it an whatever that is...
I think it might be related to sending an error report, but it seems to never stop...many times.. 40 or 50 mb.. if I reboot sometimes.. it stops.. sometimes not. It does not happen all of the time, but I have narrowed it down to doing this upload thing if I have the tether on before booting. Then it does this uploading stuff.

Is it at virus or something to do with a browser synching.. or something. I have chrome, moz, and opera. but they are not running as far as I can see. I just rebooted (twice) until it finally stopped. maybe it was finished uploading and phishing my emails or something.
My data file directory for a 1 hour mp3 edit file is 1.5 gb. Why is this so big. I only have 12 or so gigs for my system and this wipes me out with 450mb left over. Is there a setting I can change to make this smaller?

I have a subtle clicking coming from my laptop? I have a Acer r3 131t c1yf (32gb HD, 2gb RAM)
It comes from the left speaker. Windows 10 (dual boot) is very silent.
The Acer Graphics listed on "Details" app is "Intel HD Graphics (Cherryview)
The problem is affected by high graphics mode. Like if I use a compositor that is more complex than compton. The problem also arises if I use Audacity or vlc.
If I am correct, any laptop with Intel HD (Cherryview) should make clicking noises. I suspect this is a bug or would like to know why and assured it will not break my machine.
Update: I tried disabling automute and I also tried the ideas from This link here repeated here at: https://askubuntu.com/questions/160882/popping-noise-from-laptop-speakers There was also an askubuntu link which listed the above instructions and also another one to change the automute to false. That did not work.
Muting the speakers with the function key works and is almost a fix. It is a relief that it is not the graphics card or the disk or something else.
There is a mention in the above links to disable the powersave. I am not able to do this. The files keep getting overwritten. I am not sure if this is the fix. There was also a mention of the nouveau driver not loading. I suspect this is the case. It mentioned there was a conflict with graphics and this problem. I do not know how to load it.

Your DDX does not work with your current kernel and/or libdrm. There are at least three possible reasons for this: the nouveau DRM kernel module is not loaded, a version mismatch between the Nouveau DRM and libdrm, or KMS being disabled.
First check, that lsmod command lists nouveau. If not, do modprobe nouveau to load the nouveau DRM kernel module, and check the kernel log for possible errors.
If the kernel module nouveau is loaded according to lsmod command, but there are no kernel messages about nouveau at all, then most likely Nouveau KMS is disabled. This prevents the driver to work at all. Possible places to disable KMS are:
kernel command line with: nomodeset, drm.modeset=0, nouveau.modeset=0 or similar modprobe.conf or modprobe.d/ adding the module options drm modeset=0 or nouveau modeset=0 initramfs carrying the above module options Check and remove all those that you may find, and retry.
