I got this error upon starting Squid Proxy Server using the command sudo squid -z

fatal: ipc::mem::segment::create failed to shm_open(/squid-cf__metadata.shm): 13 permission denied

How shall I fix it? Im using version 3.5.26 of Squid. I tried any fixes I found in the web but nothing works. I tried implementing the fix below I found in the web:

Just add the following line to your /etc/fstab file: shm /dev/shm tmpfs nodev,nosuid,noexec 0 0 After that use (as root): # mount shm

Unfortunately, it doesn't work. Another possible fix on the web is error reading squid.pid

squid: ERROR: Could not read pid file /var/run/squid.pid: (13) Permission denied

Unfortunately, as I look in my directory, I could not find squid.pid. How will I get my Squid working? Thanks.

My network address is 192.168.5.0. My host machine is 192.168.5.1 and my client machine is 192.168.5.2. How will I enable my client to ping the internet through the terminal but restrict it from using port 80 or the browser? Below is my /etc/shorewall/policy file :

SOURCE    DEST    POLICY    LOGLEVEL   RATE    CONNLIMIT

loc       net     ACCEPT

net       all     DROP      info

/etc/shorewall/rules file:

DROP    loc    fw    tcp   80

/etc/shorewall/interfaces file :

net   eth0
loc   eth1

Host Interfaces:

eth0 - Connection to the internet
eth1 - Local Network Connection

Please tell me, if I still have to provide more details. Using the configuration above, my client is unable to ping any internet website and at the same time cant access any site from the browser.

I have a PC which has a pre-installed Ubuntu 18 OS. On the free partition I have installed Slackware 14.2 successfully.

After that I have decided to install GRUB, using the commands below:

chroot /mnt
lsblk
grub-install /dev/sda
grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
exit
reboot

Running grub-mkconfig has one error on the end.

grub-probe unknown filesystem

After rebooting I can successfully boot to Slackware but not to Ubuntu. Ubuntu shows an error below:

error file '/boot/vmlinuz-4.15.0-29-generic' not found error: you need to load the kernel first
grub2 boot dual-boot slack

I have setup a web server, and then it's working fine when accessed through browser. Suddenly the site cannot be reached anymore (Host unreachable). I can ping the Ubuntu server but cannot accessed it through browser. It has no http errors. I can access internet.

Port 80 is open when I tried the commands below:

nmap 192.168.5.141
nmap localhost

If it has to do with proxy or firewall. Please guide me what to do since Im a newbie in managing Ubuntu servers.
