The top, "File, Edit..." menu is gone from all my KDE program windows. Not sure what I changed.
I tried ctrl+m, looked in EVERY setting I can find for days but can not find a way to get my File menu back.
Best I can do is add a an item to the Title Bar buttons for, "Application Menu" which is ok but not what I want.
I installed libssl [1] and it seems to be done correctly but I still get thie following error when trying to open a dependent program (RStudio).
What do the symbols mean # and $. Why # for root?
Where do these conventions come from?
On a fresh Ubuntu install, I keep getting the following dialog pop up. Can anyone tell me how to turn it off?
Allow opening file?
Allow snap "chromium" to open file "/home/iii/Downloads"?
I run install git and get the following error:

I cannot do anything after this, it just locks up and I have to exit.
What's the problem and how can I fix it?
I'm on the newest KDE Ubuntu and just trying to move some large videos from the phone to my computer. The KDE connect works great but is too slow for videos.
When I connect to the phone with USB, the "Storage" folder is locked and I get the error message when I try to open the folder: Could not enter folder /media/l/disk/storage and can't open Dolphin with Sudo.

I have a brand new ThinkPad and just got Ubuntu installed and updated. I got the USB-C dock too and everything has been amazing and seamless (thank you Ubuntu!), except from the fact that the dock display output does not work.
In the Ubuntu display menu, the external monitor does show up, just like it should, but the screen remains black and the monitor does not "see" the laptop.
Oddly, when first setting it up it did work for a second, but was for some reason set to the lowest resolution (like 600x300 or something). When I went to the settings menu to change it to the native resolution, it flickered and then disconnected, never to reconnect again.
HDMI works fine and that's what I currently use (I know, my problem is not a real problem).

Is there a way to use Synclient (for example) to set a double finger tap to "internet back" button, i.e. keystroke Alt+Left Arrow?
I found one four post saying yes, but see nothing in the Synclient help, just buttons 1, 2 or 3.

I have Ubuntu dual booting with Windows. I would like to replace it with Kubuntu but when going to install from USB that option is not there (if I do this with a Ubuntu USB disk it does give the option to replace just Ubuntu or wipe the whole disk.
Might there be an option I am missing? Does Ubuntu "see itself" but Kubuntu does not?

I am dual booting Windows/Ubuntu. When I boot my new Ubuntu installation media I am not given the option to "Replace" the old version, jut either make a new partition or replace the whole disk. Is there a reason why I am not given the "Replace" old Ubuntu with the new version option?
(P.S. I currently have Kubuntu and it has stopped loading so want to replace it with a new version.)

I uninstalled Ubuntu via "How-to-Geek" instructions, but upon completion my boot menu is gone and I can only boot the simple "grub" command line. Booting to my Live USB with Ubuntu works though (I am using now) but when I go to reinstall I no longer have the option to make a new partition to dual boot windows too. I must somehow make a new manual partition if I want to be able to dual boot to windows.
A little more detail: I just figured out that I can still load my old windows desktop if I directly select to boot from it from the Bios menu, so I know everything still works fine. So the issue is just that Ubuntu is not seeing my windows partition and is only giving me the option of writing over the whole thing.
I had Ubuntu dual booting and wanted to remove it. I followed the instructions at "How to Geek" It says "it is hard" to tell which partition (the 2 unnamed partitions it will not let me remove) to remove but did my best to avoid the recovery one.
I then loaded from a Recovery Disk... and at the CMD promt enter the bootrec.exe /fixmbr and it is successful.
But, when I restart it still goes to the "grub" command line and that is all I can do.
My guess is that I removed the ubuntu partition but not the "grub" partition or something?
If I load from the Recovery Disk I can't do anything because every option just restarts the computer then back to the grub line?

I feel one of the biggest improvements with Chrome on Windows is moving the tabs all the way to the top to the screen (so the mouse can just go all the way up, then click). I went with the kubuntu because they do not include the normal (pointless) Linux menu bar at the top of the screen. It took me an hour to get chrome on here and now I see there is a Giant pointless title bar across the top. It is a good 5% of the total screen area and it is just the title and close buttons. Is there anyway to have the chrome tabs all the way at the top of the screen like was intended by Google?
