My Ubuntu installation is partitioned in a drive sda holding Ubuntu and Swap and a drive sdb holding my data. During the installation of a new version of Ubuntu on drive sda I must accedentialy have chosen sdb as the boot partition. Now I don't get access to my data. Also gparted does not see any data on this drive.
Does anybody have an idea how to recover these data?
My Ubuntu 19.04 is a torrent download from April 18. It does not start after installation.
On my 128GB SSD I have a 60GB partition for Windows and two 30GB partitions for Ubuntu and of course another 4GB for SWAP. One Ubuntu partition holds Ubuntu 18.10. That version of Ubuntu works. Into the other Ubuntu partition I tried to install Ubuntu 19.04. I tried that three times. It came up with different problems. Once I was able to key in my password, but it stayed in a loop, asking me again and again to key in my password. In other cases the screen was scrambled. So I thought, it might be a defect of my SSD.
So instead of 19.04 I installed into that partition a second version of Ubuntu 18.10. That installed flawlessly.
I then installed Ubuntu 19.04 into the partition which was holding the original version of Ubuntu 18.10. Again Ubuntu 19.04 did not start. It kept asking me for my password in a never ending loop.
What can I do to make Ubuntu 19.04 run on my ASRock PC?
After installing Ubuntu 17.10 I was able to operate it normally. I then have removed the preinstalled games mahjongg and mines. With the next restart 17.10 crashed.
I have been using gparted for years under any ubuntu version. gparted won't start under ubuntu 17.10. Is this a bug of ubuntu 17.10?
Before switching from Ubuntu 15.10 to Ubuntu 16.04 all three connected printers were working. They still work with the parallel installed Mint 17.
Is there a way to get them work again under Ubuntu 16.04? Which additional information do I have to post?
Make sure the lsb-core package is installed! Open a terminal from Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal (in the Panel) or from the Dash (in new Unity desktop) and type (or copy-paste) the following command into the terminal:
sudo apt-get install lsb-core
64bit users: You should use this instead if installing the 32bit package
sudo apt-get install libc6-i386 libglib2.0-0:i386 libsm6:i386 \ libglu1-mesa:i386 libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 libxext6:i386 \ libxrender1:i386 libx11-6:i386 libfontconfig1:i386 lsb-core
All this recommended for the installation of Google Earth for older Ubuntu versions does not work on Ubuntu 16.04 anymore. Who can help?
