I have been getting this weird error when I put my laptop to sleep and then waking it up after a while. This error forces me to force reboot my computer in order to restart my computer. However wifi and ethernet works fine so I am not sure why this error appears. It usually appears when I put my laptop to sleep and then leave the network then reopening it in my home using my home network.

When I last checked this error is from iwlwifi. Below is the return from the command dmesg | grep iwlwifi

My wifi card is Intel Ac 9560

Encountered this weird issue where after upgrading to 19.04, my sound setting are all heywire. Plus some app wouldnt able to run like starting terminal, files and screenshot.

After some digging, realized that it might be related to some app crashing causing both the sound issue and also the app issue. The app of concern is either Anydesk or Kazam which I had already remove and purge from my laptop. Quite stuck now on how to go about debugging this. I had no idea where the root cause of the bug is and seems like there is multiple bugs happening.

Before the crash, the system was working fine with no issue, able to use the sound, the headphones as well as recording etc. It was only after installing Kazam and did some recording and had a reboot that all this problem start to crop up.

I found this: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshootingProcedure. I am not sure whether to proceed with this as the current bug seems quite unique.

I explored the solution on installing pulseaudio, reloading alsa and even rename ~/.config/pulse/ but to no avail. Sound still not set by default. The cards and headphones are detected as it as show below:

Checking using aplay -l shows all the hardware detected so I believe the issue should be on the software side. The detected also included my usb connected headphones (Sennheiser Main Audio)

The output device shows the setting after I had installed pulseaudio and did a pulseaudio -- start. However, my headphone config setting is not shown.

App unable to start issue:

Terminal, Files and Screenshot unable to start each time I reboot or restart my laptop. I had a workaround now which is to change the region & languages setting and then logout and login again to be able to start the terminal which is a bit of a hassle to do everytime.

I am trying to setup a dual boot system of windows pro 10 and ubuntu 16.04.1. Currently I am stuck where I boot from my live usb in "Try Ubuntu" but I could not detect my hard drive at all. The live usb does not see the hard drive at all.

I had tried this link and switch SATA to ACHI mode from RAID but still I cannot see my drive at all. I did also a sudo fdisk -l but my 2Tb hard disk does not show up.

this is a continuation of this problem from this link . So after I thought was a successfull installation of ubuntu gnome 16.04.4 dual boot with windows 10 pro, I thought that was the last of problem.

I had to install CUDA and cuDNN on my computer for some deep learning application, thus requiring nvidia proprietary drivers running for the GPU. So I decided to change the additional driver from the default option to using the nvidia driver (nvidia 384.111) . I reboot and went to this blank screen.

I just want to clarify. When making the ubuntu live usb using Rufus, do we select:

1. GPT partition scheme for UEFI
2. MBR partition scheme for UEFI

I currently have windows 10 pro installed and would like to make a dual boot system by installing ubuntu 16.04 alongside windows 10 pro.

Update:

I had tried to boot into the usb but it hang at the login screen. Anyone have any idea how to solve this? Really running out of ideas to try. I think 16.04.4 ubuntu image iso is faulty. I am thinking of downgrading back to 16.04.3 to see if it works.

Also another side question -- do we need nvidia drivers to be the same in Windows 10 and also in Ubuntu 16.04?
