Using Puddletag's tag panel, I can create an Album name in the following format:

George Orwell - Animal Farm

I'd then like to create Title names using this format:

George Orwell - Animal Farm 01 
George Orwell - Animal Farm 02 
George Orwell - Animal Farm 03 
etc.
etc.

In tag code, that would translate into:

%album% %track%

I don't see the option to do this, i.e., to append a track code to an album code. I see tag-to-file conversions and file-to-tag conversions, but I don't see tag-to-tag conversions. Am I overlooking something?

If Puddletag can't do this, are there other tag editors with a simlar spreadsheet-type layout that would allow tag-to-tag conversions?

I don't think an actual rollback or system restore exists in Linux/Ubuntu, so I'm looking at other options to reverse a recent browser upgrade.

I would like to revert to a slightly older version of Firefox than the one installed during a recent upgrade. The first issue was the narrow scrollbars, but I found a fix for that (use only gtk3 system themes and modify as needed). But there is another annoyance that's bothering me. I'm thinking future upgrades will iron out some of the annoyances and/or extensions will be developed to remove the annoyances, since that seems to be the history of Firefox. In the meantime, it would be nice to revert back to an earlier version.

I found some Firefox .deb files on pkg.com. That looks to me like the quickest and easiest way to do the reversion. But I have questions.

First, is pkgs.org considered a reputable site?

Second, does one need to completely uninstall the upgraded version of Firefox? Or can one install the older version on top of the newer version?

UPDATE: Per the suggestion of JonasCz, I looked into installing an official ESR. I uninstalled Firefox 47, which removed everything but kept my profile. I then downloaded and installed Firefox 45.2 ESR from the official Mozilla link. Not knowing where to put it, I just installed to a folder in the Home directory, which resulted in the creation of a "firefox" folder. There are two Firefox binaries -- one that says Firefox and one that says Firefox-bin. I clicked on the first and Firefox opened with all my bookmarks and extensions. It seems to be working fine, with the caveat that start-up time is longer... as if it were looking in specific default locations rather than in folders/subfolders in my Home directory. I think the ultimate solution would be to find a PPA or a .deb file. I tried a Canonical link to a Firefox [ESR PPA] (https://launchpad.net/~team-esr/+archive/ubuntu/firefox-esr), but it didn't work as there was no file to download.

[This question is similar to another one (for Ubuntu vs Lubuntu) where there was no real answer other than to look for other Firefox themes -- something that has not worked for me in the past. At any rate, I think this question is different enough. At least I hope so.]

The Widget theme I selected in Lubuntu is Industrial. My understanding is the widget theme dictates what the scrollbar looks like in various programs.

Here's what the scrollbars are supposed to look like under the Industrial theme.

As you can see, the scrollbars are wide, have a decorated thumb and arrows at both ends.

Below is an image that shows Pcmanfm (on the left) reflecting the Industrial type of scrollbar. Firefox 47.0, on the right, does not. It has a scrollbar that is too narrow for my comfortable use and it doesn't have the arrows at the top and bottom.

I've read that Canonical has branded Firefox, so I thought maybe that was the issue. I went into Firefox about:config and deleted everything I could that said Canonical. Still, I get the narrow scrollbars.

So what I'm trying to do is get the Firefox scrollbars to reflect the Widget theme I selected.

Before anyone asks, yes I've tried the Firefox addon called New Scrollbars (aka NoiaScrollbars). I can widen the scrollbars that way, but I can't add arrows top and bottom and I can't get a decorated thumb. IOW, it just looks too ugly for my tastes.

If I open pcmanfm using the gksudo command this lets me manipulate files and directories safely. But what if I want to open and modify a text file in one of those directories? Will the gksudo protection carry over to any files I open in Leafpad or do I have to open those files using gksudo leafpad?

I've done a lot of trial and error and reading and can now create .desktop files (i.e., launchers, shortcuts, etc.) most of the time using Lubuntu.

But I'm unclear whether or not the ".desktop" extension is actually needed. It seems sometimes I've created a shortcut/launcher without it. Other times I've added the extension during file creation and later removed the extension and it still worked.

So, I'm wondering two things... Given that a .desktop file can be created and/or viewed from a text editor:

1. Is the real, defining characteristic of a .desktop file the [Desktop Entry] at the top of the text file?
2. Is it really necessary to right-click the desktop and create a new file with the .desktop extension? Or is it enough to create a new, empty file in a text editor and put the [Desktop Entry] as the header and fill in the remaining fields (Type=, Icon= , etc.).

I have a WinXP machine that I'd like to make dual-boot with Lubuntu. The standard advice is to shrink the Windows partition from within Windows as Windows is fussy.

The problems I'm running into are this:

• Unlike Win7, WinXP doesn't have an internal utility for shrinking the Win partition.

• The main third-party program that I see recommended -- EaseUS -- is riddled with malware/spyware.

• GParted is a good program, but it doesn't meet the criteria of being a Windows program used to shrink Windows from within Windows.

So, what partitioning program should I be using within Windows?

UPDATE: Success. I tried a couple of third-party Wndows partition programs and one didn't work, the other did. It was called AOMEI Partition Assistant

Thanks for the pep talk on GParted. I was prepared to use it if the Windows proggies failed. Apparently the success rate is better if a couple of disk-error checks are run first. And one is supposed to uncheck "Round to Cylinders."

As for the install, was pleasantly surprised to find that at 512MB RAM I could still use the graphical Lubuntu installer. I had read that the actual requirements were more than 512 MB.

I'm talking about things like:

• %B
• %f
• %F
• %d
• %D
• etc.

What do they mean and how are they used? I'm looking either for a link to a tutorial, or somebody can post a comprehensive list for me here.

The goal is to add context menus to Pcmanfm/Lubuntu (assuming it's possible). If not possible with Pcmanfm, I'd try with another file manager.

I briefly tried Thunar and there was a list of parameters on it's action tool, but the list wasn't complete and I didn't understand the usage of some of the codes (I did read the tutorial). The information assumes a level of knowledge a little greater than mine. (Although I used context menus heavily in Windows, I generally used just one %-type parameter -- %s if I recall correctly.) So I'm looking for a master list and a comprehensive tutorial that explains usage of the parameters in Linux/Ubuntu.
