I use Ubuntu 22.04 and I have no access to any system settings through my graphical user interface, include display settings, power settings, periphery devices, etc. How can I address this issue.

One way of solving this problem might be a system upgrade to Ubuntu 22.10, but in fact I would like to prefer to stay with the LTS version. I would probably be able to access certain settings through the terminal, but this seems rather impractical. Maybe a simple command or a few lines in the terminal will fix the problem, but I have no clue how to do this.

I have succesfully installed EST Endpoint Antivirus on Ubuntu 22.04.

Activation fails as follows:

 /opt/eset/eea/sbin/lic --key XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
 bash: /opt/eset/eea/sbin/lic --key: No such file or directory

but this file does exist, indeed. The same happens with all other activation options, including file activation.

I tried to troubleshoot, but at no avail:

 file /opt/eset/eea/sbin/lic

The approaches suggested from askubuntu.com and other linux forums failed as well. Also this interpreter seems to be installed.

Maybe someone of this community knows what to do....

I would like to connect Ubuntu 22.04 to a ThinkPad USB-C Dock by Lenovo. Can you help? It is not being detected on my computer. Also the support page on the Lenovo website does not indicate Linux support. Can you help?

I would like to use Remmina for remote access through the internet (from Ubuntu 22.04 to 20.04).

Screen sharing already allowed, what do I enter in the input field "Remmina VNC plugin - Basic - server"? Somehow all attempts have failed such "213.34.33.111:5900", etc. What is the correct format? And do I need port forwarding in my router? How do I set up my router (port forwarding). I already know my local machine's local IP address (192.168.1....). Access from within my LAN worked already, but this is not what I require.

I am trying to open Sagemath through Jupyter. I am getting the following message in Firefox:

Access to the file was denied

The file at /home/tw/.local/share/jupyter/runtime/nbserver-61611-open.html is not readable.

It may have been removed, moved, or file permissions may be preventing access.

Recently, I migrated to Ubuntu 22.04 (from 20.04). Under Ubuntu 20.04, Juypter worked finely. Also the file permissions are fine and all set to "rw" for all users. I have read somewhere that Firefox does not open hidden files anymore. I tried to change advanced settings in Firefox, without success. I could not even find the relevant advanced setting option. I cannot open the above html-file from chrome either. Reinstalling Sagemath was also not helpful.

What is the most efficient way to check for malware residing in firmware through open source software? I wondered to what extent standard commercial antivirus software detects this type of malware.

I am running the following code:

I am running Ubuntu 20.04 with Unity desktop environment.

I would like to split my (big) second screen into 4 different virtual screens, into a grid of virtual screens. I do not know how to do this. Unity tweak tool is already installed, but that did not offer this option.

I have no idea how to fix this. My python version is 3.8.5.

The racing wheel "Thrustmaster Ferrari GT Experience Wheel" is not working properly on my Ubuntu 20.04. I am playing the F1 2017 game. I can only steer, but no acceleration through the gas pedal. Whether or not the brake works is unclear yet. It even starts to constantly input a down button (cursor) while in the menu after a while, though I am not pressing any button. I tried different options unsuccessfully.

The driving wheel was working on 18.04, though.

I wanna use HP Laserjet 500 MFP on my Ubuntu 20.04 device. Unfortunately hplip does not support Ubuntu 20.04 yet. Can you help? My error code running the installation script for hplip (sh ./hplip-3.20.9.run) is:

Also installing hplip from the repository through (sudo apt-get install hplip) and running the command hp-plugin is not successful. When running the command hp-setup the printer does not seem to be recognized.

I am using Wacom Intuos Pro S on Ubuntu 20.04 Desktop. After startup I run some applications like Xournal++ where I use my pen to take handwritten notes. After booting my pen works finely. If I leave the computer unattended for some time and the screen is unlocked again, my pen does not work any more. How can I reactivate my digital pen without rebooting the computer? The terminal command "xsetwacom --list" returns:
