Could someone help me. I need a bash script to play a short sound file, wait for 30 seconds, play another sound file, wait for another 30 seconds.
(I will use it as a reminder to spend 30 seconds on each quadrant of my teeth when using a electric toothbrush.)
mpg123 /usr/share/sounds/My_Sounds/Alarm_Clock_Sound.mp3
sleep 30
mpg123 /usr/share/sounds/My_Sounds/Alarm-sound-buzzer.mp3
sleep 30
mpg123 /usr/share/sounds/My_Sounds/facility-alarm.mp3
sleep 30
But it only plays the first sound file. ??
Is there a way to hide the mouse cursor while viewing an Amazon movie?
Without disabling it when I stop viewing the movie.
I also frequently have to adjust my volume which does require my mouse.
A quandry indeed. :-)
Thanks.
It has been a long time, so I am rusty with my commands.
I use a script to have reminders. One I have running will display "Meteor shower occurs after midnight." after 3 hours.
Is there a way to prevent me from accidentally closing a terminal which has my timer script running?
Update:
Here is my script.

I would like to convert some .jpgs to a 640x480 size.
I looked through my Ubuntu_Tips.odt file and found this.
Convert png to a 640x480 png.
convert Screenshot_1360x768.png -resize 640x480! 640smaller.png
I have 8 of those files in /home/andy/Downloads/.
Is there a way to do a batch convert of those .jpgs files to the smaller file size?
Thanks.
I had K3b burn some data to a rewrite-able DVD.
My file manager shows it as "K3b data project"
I want to rename it to a sensible name like DVD_Disk.
sudo mv '/media/andy/K3b data project' DVD
mv: cannot move '/media/andy/K3b data project' to 'DVD': Device or resource busy

How can I do that?
I got a new keyboard(Lenovo) but it has no sleep key which I use very frequently.
I have a script to do the suspension.
Can I take a rarely used key, like the Pause/Break key and cause it's pressing to put my computer in suspend mode?
I have installed xbindkeys.
I had sensors working in 18.04 but having difficulties with 20.04
I installed sensors and ran sensors-detect selecting the default choices.
I would appreciate the opportunity to learn what I need to do next.
Thanks.

I do not understand why I am getting the "No such file..." error.
fstab is in home/andy/Downloads/
Here is what is relevant in my backup script.
# Backup fstab
cat /etc/fstab > home/andy/Downloads/fstab
tar -cvf fstab.tar home/andy/Downloads/fstab
rsync --progress -r -u fstab.tar $Backup_Directory
rsync --progress -r -u fstab.tar $Local_Backup_Dir
And the output.
Thunar_Settings.tar

I added the / to the appropriate places.
tar: Removing leading `/' from member names /home/andy/Downloads/fstab sending incremental file list fstab.tar
It creates the tar file and sends it to the 2 locations.
I am fairly new using tar having used zip files in the past.
I want to just create the tar file without the directories being included.
I went here, but found it a bit confusing.

I have a microphone and camera on my desktop system.
I would like to be able to make phone calls using the computer.
I use zoom, so it seems like it should be doable.
Is it possible using Ubuntu Mate?
I would like to get a listing of the space used by programs, preferably with the largest listed first.
I am keeping 18.04 ONLY since 20.04 has "broken" my Canon TS9120 scanner.
I could then un-install those programs that are not needed.
I am using UM 20.04 on a persistent install on a pendrive.
When I use dconf-editor and change the custom time format, nothing changes.
Same thing happens on a HD installation.
Why did Ubuntu Mate make it so hard to accomplish?
How can I remedy that?
I have Zoom installed as a snap.
When I close Zoom, it stays in memory as shown in top.
And if I start it again it just creates more copies in memory.
I then have to
killall -9 zoom
Is there a fix?
I am trying to install Seamonkey.
I am using the method shown here.
Why isn't Mozilla SeaMonkey available in the repositories? How can I install it?

I know how to use sleep 5m for 5 minutes.
How would I use it for say 7 mins 30 seconds?
When running the --help

In most cases, shift insert works when you want to insert copied text.
But in a terminal, it uses Shift Ctrl v.
Any way to change that behaviour to Shift Insert?
I made a script to invoke inotifywait

How do I stop the last inotifywait

I cannot understand how to use inotify_rm_watch
