On Ubuntu 20.04 I had problems installing minikube due to some docker issues, so I decided to update it, but sudo apt update outputs docker package error:

Err:18 https://get.docker.com/ubuntu docker InRelease
    403  Forbidden [IP: 13.33.240.69 443]

So I decided to remove it, but first identifying what exact docker packages I have (docker-EE? docker-CE? docker? ...):

dpkg -l | grep -i docker
    rc  docker.io                                        19.03.8-0ubuntu1.20.04.2              amd64        Linux container runtime

And then:

sudo apt remove docker-compose docker.io python3-docker python3-dockerpty
sudo apt purge -y docker.io

But sudo apt update still displays ... 403 Forbidden ... error. How to can I make my system to completely forget about docker to proceed with new installation?

In my C++ program I use popen() to read video frames with ffmpeg. When program stops on it's own or I close it with Ctrl+C everything I type into terminal just never appears (but it's there). I do close pipe with pclose(). When I try to build my program again and it fails so gcc prints errors - it fixes itself. Ubuntu 18.04.3, kernel 5.4

Is it terminal window's bug or I misunderstand pipes in some way?

For my AMD Radeon RX 5700XT I tried amdgpu-pro drivers (v19.50) installation on modern (kernel 5.3) Ubuntu 18.04.3 as driver claims it's supported but compilation failed with C++ errors. Tried the same on 5.0 and 5.5.2 kernels with same results (on 5.5.2 kernel it was different error though: <drm/drmP.h>: No such file or directory).

Currently I'm on kernel 5.5.2 with mesa 19.3 installed. clinfo prints a lot of satisfying information seeming it's all cool, but with such tiny little line in-between:

fatal error: cannot open file '/usr/lib/clc/gfx1010-amdgcn-mesa-mesa3d.bc': No such file or directory

which causes kernels compilation to fail (with the same error).

Anyone having any luck getting navi10 GPU OpenCL working on Ubuntu any distro?

My PC sound outputs to 5.1 sound system with subwoofer being able to play 45 Hz and more frequencies only. Some songs and movies was "looking" weird with portions being distorted or silent. I think I figured out what is the reason: when sound is intended to be within 20-45 Hz, it just doesn't come out. In this video, the whole second part of it is completely silent for me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8gjsefNYpE - which exactly corresponds to my speakers specs.

Is there a way to remix 20-45 Hz to 46 Hz or something with alsa/pulseaudio? Or any other way to solve this problem? Besides spending 3k$ on new sound system ;)

I had nvidia driver installed on my Ubuntu Server 16.04. I need to run some app which needs OpenGL, but since machine is "headless" a virtual screen must be created.

I tried to do it with Xvfb, but app fails with ... unable to ... GLX ... error. Internet at ~50 places says it's totally impossible to achieve a virtual screen with nvidia drivers installed.

So I uninstalled drivers with apt remove --purge nvidia* It didn't fix the problem so I removed nvidia's .so files present at ldd /usr/bin/glxinfo to somehow force Xvfb use mesa's drivers, so now I have:

    libX11.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libX11.so.6 (0x00007f37f7c16000)

    libnvidia-tls.so.340.102 => not found
    libnvidia-glcore.so.340.102 => not found
    libXext.so.6 => /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libXext.so.6 (0x00007f37f7638000)

now xvfb and glxinfo fail with error while loading shared libraries: libnvidia-tls.so.340.102: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory error :(

ldconfig doesn't help as well as apt install --reinstall libgl1-mesa-dri xvfb mesa-utils

Is there a way to get rid of remnants of nvidia's drivers? or make xvfb work along with presence of nvidia's OpenCL drivers?
