I want to reinstall Oracle VirtualBox as it isn't working (The vboxdrv kernel module is not loaded. Either there is no module available for the current kernel (5.3.0-7629-generic) or it failed to load. Please recompile the kernel module by and install it by sudo /sbin/vboxconfig)

What I'm worried about is that whether my current virtual machine gets deleted after using sudo apt install --reinstall virtualbox.

I tried manually upgrading it from its current version 5.2 to 6.1 with dpkg -i but it says that the new version conflicts with the new one. So how can I safely reinstall VirtualBox so that I will still be able to my current VM?

PS. I think the problem with VirtualBox started after upgrading to the new kernel.

Every time I turn on my laptop, I see this error message about Lighttpd appearing several times while booting process (also on systemctl --failed):

How can I fix this problem?

I can't upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04 from 17.10. When I run sudo update-manager -d it shows an error:

Before that, sudo update-manager -d found the release and was about to start the upgrading process but I cancelled it. And now it's showing that error.

And also, now when I update packages, the PPA sources are Bionic which is from 18.04, not 17.10:

As a consequence, after running apt upgrade, there are tons of packages to be upgraded which will take 1260 MB.

I know I've messed up everything. How can I upgrade to Ubuntu 18.04 in this case? Or can I just upgrade to 18.04 via dist-upgrade?

I want to use Internet Download Manager for downloading on Firefox. According to this answer it can be done with the extension called Flashgot. But Flashgot does not work on new Firefox Quantum. However, I found this extension that can be used to interrupt browser's downloading jobs by redirecting these jobs to an external download manager like Internet Download Manager (IDM). But I don't know how to integrate IDM with this new extension. I wrote IDM's location (/.wine/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Internet Download Manager/IDMan.exe) in the box that says "Path to the executable" but when I try to download something, an error is appearing.

I want to copy my virtual machine to another computer and use it as nothing's changed in the second pc (anything such as history, snapshot, uuid, etc.) I use in both computers Ubuntu 16.04.

I use a virtual machine called 'RelaxEd' on VirtualBox (Ubuntu 16.04 amd64). After starting it I will be able to access localhost:3000 and then load the web pages. For some reasons I copied its files from Virtualbox VMs folder to another computer (still Ubuntu 16.04 amd64) in order to use it on that second computer. But when I start the virtual machine I'm asked login and password which I don't know. However,it isn't required in my first computer ( I guess login and password were saved). I also created a snapshot of the VM in the first computer and copied it to the second PC thinking I would be able to use without login and password. But I can't start the VM on the second computer by that snapshot either (after loading 90% an error is appearing). How can I get the login and password of the VM to use it on the second computer?

I use Ubuntu 16.10. Even though I choose a plymouth theme, still some codes and messages (with green "OK" in every message) are appearing while booting. I updated plymouth theme via sudo update-alternatives --config default.plymouth then sudo update-initramfs -u. I use Intel graphic driver

I've been through the problem that even after logging in, after 3-4 minutes RAM memory is being used all of its memory despite I'm not using or running anything at all. For that computer freezes and doesn't respond at all. A couple of days before it was okay. I've noticed it while taking a look at the task manager's graph. I'm running Ubuntu 16.04.2 kernel: 4.4.0-79-generic

I can't run Startup Applications as before I run it, computer stops responding. And 3GB was enough for me before this problem occured

I always upgrade packages by dist-upgrade including kernel. Recently I discovered that current kernel version is 4.4.0-34-generic which is old. The last time when I upgrade kernel, it was 4.4.0-79. I checked the lists in GRUB customizer: As you can see in the picture, new kernels are listed. But they aren't shown when I press Shift button to enter the grub menu while booting.

I even specifically run the command uname -r that showed:

I also run sudo update-grub which showed:

I looked around in /boot/grub/grub.cfg and there were no new kernels but 4.4.0-34. Ubuntu's version is 16.04.2 LTS amd64. I want to upgrade the kernel as my computer's stopping to respond after 2-3 minutes after logging in. What am I supposed to upgrade my kernel in the right way? What did I do wrong to upgrade it?

I upgraded kernel version by dist-upgrade. The version I upgraded to was 4.4.0-78. but after rebooting when I typed sudo uname -r, it showed 4.4.0-34. What's wrong? There were no problems while upgrading.

I use Ubuntu amd64 16.04

I use Ubuntu 16.04 amd64. now I can't use it as after logging in it starts freezing and I have to shutdown my computer by the power button. I've noticed that the red indicator next to power button keeps indicate with non-stop. what must I do to make it work as it used to?

I have some plymouth themes on the path /usr/share/plymouth/themes.

But I cannot set them. I first tried sudo update-alternatives --config default.plymouth then chose the theme. after that sudo update-initramfs -u

There were no errors. But it's not working. Plymouth-manager is not working too (installed but not running). I use Ubuntu 16.04 amd64

I was connecting to the Internet via USB Modem. Recently I upgraded packages including kernel and now I cannot use Internet after powering on my computer from suspend mode. Even updating packages isn't working (in Terminal). But in the Home page of the modem, it says "Connected". :

I have to do fresh boot all the time.

If I changed my desktop background picture, that picture would also be set to login screen. Now it's not working. Whatever I change, login background is the same picture (Ubuntu's default picture) How can I make it work?

Wine is saying that Mono package is not installed, but I installed it with Terminal by:

sudo apt-get install mono-complete

What should I do?

I've just download Opera .deb package and I can't install it. When I type sudo dpkg -i, terminal is showing errors:

Hi everyone. I need your help. Recently I checked my HDD via "Disks" and saw that there are many problems in "Worst" column and in "Type" column many attributes are pre-fail and old-age. It seems like after some time my HDD may not work. I need to fix them and use my hard drive as much as possible. Can I do it? thanks
