The official QGIS installation documentation is a little hard to follow, because it doesn't give a detailed example.

@zorkerz provided an answer to my installation question for Ubuntu 15.04. I modified these instructions to 18.04. Is my interpretation correct?

To install the newest version of QGIS, add the QGIS repositories to the /etc/apt/sources.list file:

sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list

Arrow the cursor to the bottom and insert these lines:

deb http://qgis.org/ubuntu bionic main
deb-src http://qgis.org/ubuntu bionic main

After those commands, I followed the rest of the instructions on the official QGIS installation page starting with the following.

"After that type the commands below to install QGIS:"

sudo apt update
sudo apt install qgis qgis-plugin-grass

While completing the step to verify the fingerprint, the following part of the output seemed off:

gpg: key 51F523511C7028C3: 1 signature not checked due to a missing key gpg: key 51F523511C7028C3: "QGIS Archive Automatic Signing Key (2019) " not changed gpg: Total number processed: 1 gpg: unchanged: 1

When adding the key, the following part of the output was concerning. Is this a problem on my end or for QGIS to resolve?

I am having a hard time finding an answer to this question for 18.04 LTS.

I used the following to find a list of options to configure.

gsettings list-keys org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.touchpad

It returned the following list:

touchpad send-events natural-scroll tap-to-click two-finger-scrolling-enabled left-handed click-method speed scroll-method tap-and-drag edge-scrolling-enabled disable-while-typing

Out of this list, which of these options can be configured to be "false" to disable horizontal scrolling? Samuel Cavazos' answer seems close to what needs to be done, but the horizontal option does not appear to be available in the current list above. His answer, which is not applicable in 18.04, is as follows:

gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.peripherals.touchpad horiz-scroll-enabled "true"

Was this option renamed to scroll-method? If so, what should the terminal line be to disable horizontal scrolling?

My question is related to a similar question about Spotify Web Player. It appears the Spotify Web Player will not work in Chromium according to this thread. For privacy purposes, I prefer to use Chromium over Chrome. In addition, I use the free version of Spotify, which does not seem to be available for desktop, as noted by Anonymous in the poster's question in this thread. Lastly, I mostly use Chromium over Firefox due to some functionality problems with add-ons in Firefox. I encountered a screen that looks like this when trying to access Spotify Web player.

I tried installing flash using this answer to fix the problem. I also visited Jorge Castro's discussion of the differences between Chrome and Chromium and found the list of additional plugins to install to make Chromium have similar features to Chrome. Installing these did not work either.

Spotify keeps bringing me to this page and telling me to change the content settings to allow protected content. However, I verified this setting is indeed toggled to the on position, but I continue to see an error instead of the web player. Any help would be much appreciated!

I ran into bugs and complications when trying to use full disk encryption and encrypting my home folder and I am less concerned about physical security and more so about online security.

Therefore, I would like to use encfs to encrypt a folder containing my sensitive materials. Before I do so, I tested using encfs using the example outlined on the encfs official documentation page.

To practice, I created both example folders mentioned in the link above, ~/visible and ~/.encrypted. If I needed to, how do I delete the ~/.encrypted folder? This question is almost answered on this page. However, it is not clear what this statement means: "After that, only the rootdir will remain. You can then simply remove the emptied (good idea to check first if it's really empty) folder ~/encfs/.encrypted."

In sum, how do I remove the rootdir?

I recently upgraded from 14.04 to 16.04 and tried locating the VMWare Horizon View Client package by using steps outlined here: How to install VMware View Client?

I received the following error :

E: Unable to locate package vmware-view-client

Therefore, it seems it is not yet available in the repositories for 16.04.

It looks like it can be downloaded from the VMWare website. To assist with this process, there are some threads about installing VMWare View Client downloaded from website above and getting it to work such as this one.

I am fairly new to Ubuntu and am unsure if there is a greater security risk installing something directly from the VMWare website from which my system will not receive periodic package updates. However, I was able to successfully install the package from the website above. Unfortunately, when I tried to connect to my employer's server, it would just jump back to the login screen. I am able to successfully connect to my employer's server on another machine running Windows, and so this problem is isolated to this case.

Should I expect this package to eventually be added to the repositories for 16.04? If I need to stick with the direct download from the VMWare website, are there additional packages that need to be installed to get VMWare Horizon View Client to work correctly on 16.04?
