Connecting to 5 Ghz WiFi, whereas on 2.4 Ghz works just fine

I have an quirky issue connecting my Linux machine to WiFi router only on 5Ghz band, whereas on 2.4Ghz everything works fine(, but limiting the internet bandwidth severly). I suppose that's not router fault, because I'm able to connect my Galaxy Note 10 using 5Ghz band with full speed. I suspect that is simply a Linux configuration problem.

I'm using Ubuntu 20.10 with 5.8.0-41-generic kernel and Broadcom BCM4360 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter.

But let's start at the very beginning. I could suspect that the problem may have someting with switching to Ubuntu 20.10, but I'm not in 100% certain. I've discovered that iw reg setting was erased after some system updates:

UPDATE #1 The content of journal -f -u NetworkManager. Please note that UPC241233881 is 2.4G and UPC501233881 is 5G, so 00:57:23 is successful connection to 2.4G and in 00:59:12 I tried to connect to 5G.

Making 1080p webcam running at 60 fps using UVC 1.5

I would like to upgrade my webcam to one offering FHD (1920x1080) resolution at 60 fps (actually running 60 fps) that has full support under Ubuntu 20.04 and as far as I know, I should look for a UVC 1.5 (USB video device class) compliant device. However, I'm a bit worried about the conclusion of the following post: Logitech Streamcam not offering all modes on Manjaro

To make the long story short, on UVC Wikipedia there's stated that Linux only detects 1.5 devices without providing full capabilities, only trying to fall safe to 1.0 or 1.1 version. Does this statement still hold even in newest kernel? Still we haven't got fully-fledged 1.5 UVC?

To sum up:

Does the newest Ubuntu 20.04 (even with kernel lifted to 5.6) has UVC 1.5 support, and if not how to patch it up? (Kernel 5.6 should give us early USB4 support, so good time to make riddance of all lacking features from the past.)
Does we need the full 1.5 UVC support to have 1080p @ 60 fps or is there any workaround? (On https://www.ideasonboard.org/uvc/ it's stated that MJPEG payloads are already supported by current UVC implementation and the StreamCam from the aforementioned post supports it. So maybe, I should not insist on 1.5 version and it requires only a bit of tinkering in config?)

[ Solved ]: Cannot find version 14 of OpenJDK for Ubuntu 20.04

As of today (May 6th, 2020), the problem described below is now obsolate, because OpenJDK-14 has finally appeared in Ubuntu 20.04 repository.

I've installed Ubuntu 20.04 Focal Fossa and was trying to install the latest Java JDKs in both flavours: OpenJDK and Oracle. However, searching via apt search gives OpenJDK (and also JRE) only up to 11th edition.

Searching on https://packages.ubuntu.com/ narrowed to focal distribution also gives results up to openjdk-11-jXX. Switching the distribution of choice to eoan, gives all up to date versions including 14th.

I'm not asking how to enforce the installation of exactly 14th edition of OpenJDK, but rather for the reason for this? Is it due to any security reasons and I should also get rid of 14th Oracle version (downgrade it to 11th)? Or just patiently wait because OpenJDK-14 need to be approved for Focal Fossa?

Downgrading gcc and libc6 to fulfill CUDA 8 requirements on Ubuntu 16.10

A few days ago I have switched from Fedora to Ubuntu to have better CUDA support, but I've faced some problems with downgrading gcc and glibc/libc6 packages to fulfill CUDA 8 requirements.

But let's start at the very beginning. A couple days ago I've installed Ubuntu 16.10 Yakkety with intention to install CUDA 8 drivers & toolkit. I've compared my current versions with CUDA 8 requirements docs.nvidia.com/cuda/cuda-installation-guide-linux/ :

CUDA 8 requirements are:

Ubuntu 16.04 with kernel 4.4.0
GCC 5.3.1
GLIBC/LIBC6 2.23

My current setup is:

$ uname -vr
4.8.0-26-generic #28-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 18 14:39:52 UTC 2016

$ dpkg -s gcc | grep Version
Version: 4:6.1.1-1ubuntu2

$ dpkg -s libc6 | grep Version
Version: 2.24-3ubuntu1

I thought that downgrading would be something as simple as typing one of the following:

sudo apt-get install gcc=5.3.1 
sudo apt-get install gcc=5.3

Unfortunatelly, those versions were not found for Yaketty. I checked at packages.ubuntu.com (and by apt-cache policy) that the appropriate versions are only for Xenial and for Yakkety there's only gcc-5 (5.4.1-2ubuntu2) and 2.24-3ubuntu1 for libc6.

To sum up:

I would like to downgrade gcc to 5.3.1 and glibc/libc6 to 2.23 and somehow manage these alternatives. I would prefer something like update-alternatives rather than using symbolic links directly (to take care of not only exectuables, but also all libraries).
Could I downgrade preserving 100% stability by adding for a moment Xenial repository to list in: Software & Updates > Other Software ?
Assuming that I would manage to downgrade gcc & libc6, could I install CUDA 8 on my current much higher kernel 4.8.0 (insetead of 4.4.0) without any loss in stability? (So far I've been using CUDA only on kernel versions exactly mentioned in installation guide.)
