Ever since the last VLC update, I have this problem. I am using Ubuntu 18.04. In fullscreen, besides the video, VLC also shows Unity launcher (side bar) and the Ubuntu top bar (see the screenshot).

If I left click on the video, the bars disappear. But when I change the audio volume or pause the video, or move the mouse cursor, they reappear.

I have tried uninstalling VLC and installing it again, but the problem remains.

My specs are:

I have AMD A6-7310 which supports boost clock of 2.4 GHz. But, in Ubuntu 18.04, it only goes to 2.0 GHz.

If I go to: /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/scaling_max_freq and open that file, it shows "2000000" (2 GHz). I want to change that (on all 4 cores/files) to "2400000" (2.4 GHz), but I can not save the changes.

How can I do this? How can I change this file?

I still want to have automatic scalling, as it is now, but to go to the max supported frequency.

I have also tried this: Set CPU governor to performance in 18.04 But no changes.

I have one 500GB HDD. I did not formated it, but have selected "Erase disk and install Ubuntu 18.04" option.

Now, when I open System Monitor it shows 70 partitions. And 490,7 GB one is shown 16 times.

What is happening?

I have connected my laptop via HDMI to my new big screen 1080p TV. I had set HDMI1 as source on TV, and instantly it shows video output from my laptop. But, there is this wierd problem.

It only outputs desktop background and Unity launcher (vertical on left side) and top horizontal bar. No matter what is on the actuall screen on laptop (Firefox for example), it just shows desktop.

I have tried to change some settings in Ubuntu Settings - Displays. But nothing changes.

It just says: This computer currently has no detected OS. And I have option to erase disc and install.

I have one OS installed (Ubuntu 16.04) on a single partition. At least that is the option I chose in installer, but it seemed to made a lot of strange (to me) partition.

I need to reinstall and keep as much of data, programs and settings possible.

A few days ago, this problem appeared. When I play a Youtube video, I get sound but no picture, only black screen. It is a HTML5 video.

I have turned off all related addons, and the problem is still present.

What can cause this?

Note: this is not a dupe of this, as my computer has an AMD graphics chip, and not an Nvidia graphics chip

This appeared after I have turned off my laptop by pressing and holding a power button. Before that, I have done a few system updates, that there waiting for reboot (I keep laptop ON or on stand-by all the time).
