Recently in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS we got a new Thunderbird version, jumping from version 52 something to now version 60.2.1
In the e-mail section which lists all e-mails, as well as in the individual e-mail's header, the date is now two-digit only compared to four-digit in the previous Thunderbird versions.
Can we somehow get four-digit dates again?
"about:config" doesn't seem to list a variable concerning such "date" settings. Also my Ubuntu is set to four-digit dates.
In a gnome-terminal as well as in a xfce4-terminal, when I change its character-encoding from standard UTF-8 (with 2 bytes for special-characters) to ISO-Latin 8859-15 (always 1 byte), the following happens:
While outputting of ISO-Latin encoded text works fine, for example:
cat textfile-iso-latin.txt
However input isn't working as expected. When I enter a special character (like Umlaut, Sonderzeichen, äöü) with the keyboard in the very same terminal, I need to hit the key on the keyboard twice in order to make it display.
Is the keyboard still in UTF-8 mode where such special characters take two bytes? How would I change this behaviour in order to make this hiccup disappear?

libreoffice -p mytextfile.txt
… works fine and without opening a window (like head-less mode, which is what I want to do), Libreoffice is a very big application to solve such a small task.
Mousepad, gedit and kate don't allow printing from the command line, however.
Does another graphical text-editor allow to do it?

[Edit] Not a duplicate of the "how to print from command-line" question, since I don't want to print from command-line but start a graphical text-editor from command-line with a given text-file name, and then this graphical text-editor prints the given text-file with the editor's set font and page size settings.
Libreoffice does do that but it's a huge application, and I'm looking for a smaller graphical application doing the same.
In Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and before, the gThumb application (version 3.4.3) has a light background in its menus, its browser and its dialogues – like white or light grey. So the gThumb application fits nicely with my light Ubuntu desktop and the other applications.
Now since Ubuntu 17.04 or 17.10, and so also with Ubuntu 18.04 LTS beta, the gThumb application (version 3.6.0 in Ubuntu 18.04) has a dark background for all its menus, its browser and its dialogues – like black or dark grey. This breaks the harmony with my Ubuntu desktop and the other applications which all use light backgrounds, since I use a light Ubuntu theme. (Actually I am using Xubuntu but that's not the point here.)
Is there a way to configure gThumb's background color for menus, browser and dialogues? I didn't find any possibility, also not in dconf Editor.
