I found that some keys (e.g. g, h, Up arrow, Esc) are not working fine. Sometimes they stop working and I have to go to another app and press mouse keys to get them running again.

I have tested the hardware with the showkey command and keys were sending the code properly. It means hardware is not an issue.

Also I have tried to use the below command to configure the suitable keyboard, but was not able to find one:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration

Also, my external keyboard is working fine.

I have changed my OS to 20.04. But it is still not working.

How to solve this? Help is appreciated. Thanks!

I have a Dell Vostro 15 3568 with Ubuntu 18.04.3 which starts blinking after the system gets locked and I want to unlock it again.

I just completed the fresh installation.

Sometimes, the blinking stopped after I tried to guess the screen while blinking and enter the password and sometimes it keeps on blinking after login as well. Here, it is showing random behaviour after unlocking the system.

I have also tried with 19.10 but the issue didn't get resolved.

Any help will be appreciated.

I was getting below error while running command sudo -s after changing the permission to 777 of /usr/bin/sudo

sudo: /usr/bin/sudo must be owned by uid 0 and have the setuid bit set

Ii solved this by below process:

Select your OS version in (recovery mode), and press Enter Key.

Ex : Ubuntu 14.04 (recovery mode)

It will bring you up another screen. Now select “Drop to root shell prompt” and press Enter.

It will load a command line at the bottom of the screen.

Now run each of the following commands.

mount -o remount,rw /

mount –all

chown root:root /usr/bin/sudo

chmod 4755 /usr/bin/sudo

restart

Now, I just want to understand why it was not working with 777 permission on /usr/bin/sudo

I just upgraded Ubuntu 19.10 from 19.04 and system is hanging while using Google-Chrome and Chromium and Firefox as well.

Is there anything that I can check or uninstall to reduce RAM & CPU usage?

I need to do slove this problem by command with d-conf or without it as I need to it every time when I prepare a new system.

How to do that?

I have purchased a new Dell G3 Laptop and this system is provided with Windows 10 and when I removed Windows and installed Ubuntu in different ways, it was unable to boot and only got the following error:

No Bootable device found. Please press any key to reboot.

What I did was:

1. I installed Ubuntu in Legacy mode.
2. I removed the HDD and added an additional SSD together with the existing SSD and I'm unable to boot with both disks.
3. I removed the extra SSD and tried booting with the existing SSD only and got the same error.
4. I made a bootable with RUFUS and installed Ubuntu 19.04 and it worked but it hangs every time while booting
5. I was also unable to install with partitions and then I had to go with erase disk and install Ubuntu option.

How do I get Ubuntu installed on this machine?

I have installed the 18.04.2 on two systems and both are having an issue with browsers like Chrome, Chromium and Firefox.

Systems are getting hanged or sometimes very slow after approx one hour.

What may be the possible solutions for this?

Currently I am unable to connect with pg1 and other pg2 is not showing in list while I am connected with android with pg2 at same time,

I want to take backup of Xampp database available in /opt/lampp/var/mysql `but I am unable to do it. I used below command

/opt/lampp/htdocs/vivek.s$ sudo mysqldump -u root -p vive.se > 07feb.sql

and

/opt/lampp/htdocs/vivek.s$ sudo mysqldump -h root -u root -p vive.se > 07feb.sql

Result is same

bash: 07feb.sql: Permission denied

Then I used

sudo -s

sudo mysqldump -u root -p vive.se > 07feb.sql

Result is

sudo: mysqldump: command not found

and it created a Empty file named 07feb.sql in /opt/lampp/htdocs/vivek.s

What is wrong while I saw my friend using same command and he got database backup of 95 MB. What should I try.

I generally create 5 Partitions(/, /boot, /opt, /home, Swap) to install Ubuntu 16.04. I Want to save my data of /home and /opt/lampp while formatting again. I do it now by taking backup in Other Disks.

I have tried these below commands to install PHP 5.6 while installing Lampp:
