My computer is running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and I've downloaded Gnome Tweaks and "tweaked" my desktop. Can I add any other tweaks, if so which/what? For example can I download Unity tweaks as well or will two different tweaks on the same computer create problems ? I would like to be able to be able to create links, colour directories and push directories closer to each other on the desktop. Thanks Garoolgan

If I have the courage to read the umpteen pages on their site I may find the answer but it's far easier to ask a Lucky Backup user!! Does Lucky Backup do incremental backups or full backups after the first backup? I've now just (hopefully) set it to backup once a week. Will it then do another complete backup or simply add the changes since its' last backup? Thanks Garoolgan
After using SanDisk SD cards for at least two years on a PC, first with Ubuntu 16.04 and more recently 18.04 today I was unable to "open" an SD card though visible in "Files". The data had been entered onto the card by the same PC.
I fished out my old 2004 MacBook Pro and the card behaved normally in the Mac, I even formatted it as FAT but back in my PC under Ubuntu, though it seemed to be working again (I copied a file to it and was able to open it) I couldn't format it.
On requesting a Ubuntu format on the first mask I could choose NTFS (already chosen by the system) or FAT but on clicking on "Next" nothing happened whether the choice was NTFS or FAT.
Finally I rang SanDisk and they simply said that they didn't support Linux!
Does anyone know of any Linux supported SD cards?

On my new laptop one of the two USB 3 ports stopped functioning and as I didn't want to send it back for repairs I bought a USB C to USB 3 cable so as to have a spare, free, port. The second USB 3 port is running a hub and I have no problems with it. The USB C port seems dead, on connecting the cable to a flash drive it is not recognised nor does it even charge a telephone. It looks completely dead. In view of lots of other comments on AskUbuntu is this a Ubuntu problem ? I am not very knowledgable on Ubuntu so if anyone has any suggestions please keep it simple! Thanks in advance for any help. Bob
I've always found Pinta far simpler to use to crop the occasional photo under Ubuntu 16.04 but I've just found, now that I'm under Ubuntu 18.04 that I can no longer do a rectangle select as it freezes almost immediately when "pulling" the "dotted rectangle" to where I want it. I do receive a mask asking me whether I want to send the problem off to which I reply yes but is there anything I can do to make Pinta usable again?
These "problems" don't stop me working but I am wondering why?
My Thinkpad T580 is connected by cable and the Wi-Fi is turned off.
Several times a day when I notice the little icons on the Taskbar I switch off both Bluetooth and Aeroplane mode (which shouldn't change anything with a wired connection?) but they keep coming back.
Is there any way to switch them off so permanently whilst retaining the possibility of bringing them back in case I should need to?

The first external drive in Ubuntu 18.04 appears on the desktop but to access subsequent drives it seems I have to use "Files".
My desktop is sometimes a bit messy and it would be easier if all external drives appeared in the dock.
Is there any way to have external drives appear in the dock, as it was in Ubuntu 16.04?
I have Calc spreadsheets which are by default in the French number format. I have no idea how this came about except that I live in France and the second language on my laptop is French. In system settings/Language Support, Language and Regional Formats I have English UK. On changing the number format for all cells in the Calc Spreadsheet I can work in English but each time I save and close the file it reverts to French. I have also tried to save the re-formatted number format file as another name but the same thing happens, it reverts to the Default French when I close and reopen it. I built this spreadsheet years ago and it is quite complex so I would prefer being able to revert it to its' original English number format. Does anyone have any ideas?
A very capable young man installed Ubuntu on my Mac, but I don't know how he did it.
When I copy files to my MacBook Pro from another "ordinary" Ubuntu PC I find a lot of duplicate files with the prefix ._
(dot underscore).
On searching the Internet I find that all replies to this question are related to OSX.
Not being very techie, I would appreciate someone sending me a terminal command to wipe all files on my Ubuntu-Mac which have the prefix ._
... unless of course this will do something disastrous!
KOrganizer says simply in its' help file in order to import to choose File>Import>Import Calendar with then the possibility of creating a new calendar or of merging it. First I did an export from the old laptop and copied the files with a USB drive to the desktop of the new laptop. On trying to import>Import Calendar on the new laptop I get as far as the desktop but the copies of the exported files (which are there) don't appear. I've had a look in "Files>Computer" in the old laptop to see whether there was a data file which I could copy and paste into the same place on the new laptop but as I don't know enough to touch all that I prefer asking! Thanks for any help Garoolgan
I'm still on Ubuntu, (no I haven't returned to main-line OS) and I'm feeling far more comfortable now though there's stil la lot to learn.
At the moment I have a scanning problem with Canoscan 9000F MarkII and gscan2pdf
which scans my document and I can save it, so far so good.... but when I want to print it out the background is very light gray, not white as the original document. I have been told that this is due to the Sane drivers? Is there any way to make the background of a scanned document when reprinted, white?
The included "simple scan" program mostly refuses to complete scanning a page, almost always stopping about 3/4 of the way down the page.
Thanks for any ideas.
I'm very new to Ubuntu and Libre Office. I transferred everything (my whole life!) from OSX yesterday!
Each time since this morning when I want to open a Libre Office file I'm faced with a dialog with the option to click first on "Start Recovery" and then on "Finish". This happens even if I have just opened and closed the file previously.
How can I fix this?
