When viewing the home directory with Nautilus, files and directories starting with '.' are now visible.
Some examples of files/dirs that could earlier only be viewed by running ls -a, but are now even visible in Nautilus are - .bashhistory, .git, .gitignore, .config etc.
I am not sure how this happened and could not find an option to revert this under Nautilus preferences menu.
Help in reverting to old system would be appreciated.
Recently I have stopped being able to place any icons present in the home/Desktop directory onto the actual visible desktop.
I believe this issue started after an update since I don't recall making any tweaks to settings that could have caused this.
To reiterate, there are no issues with the Desktop directory itself, the issue is the inability to place folders or icons of any sort onto the desktop.
Since upgrading to Ubuntu 18.04 from Ubuntu 16.04, the titlebar buttons on the upper left corner of the window for closing, minimizing and maximizing windows have vanished.
Then I went to GNOME Tweaks (GUI menu) --> Windows --> Titlebar
and set the options to add maximize and minimize buttons to the title-bar. However there was no option for Window close button there:

All bluetooth related options, including a turn off/on slide bar are missing on windows 10 for me, a Windows-Ubuntu dual-boot user.
I suspected this was an issue with Ubuntu calling the shots and indeed it was. I couldn't find this exact issue on this forum, hence decided to answer this myself.
