I'm about to replace an old GeForce 210 card with a slightly less old GT 730 card (don't laugh: they're fanless and meet my needs).
The 210 requires the 340.xx driver, while the 730 requires the 390.xx driver.
Which should I upgrade first: the driver or the card?
Or should I boot to the console after upgrading the card and then install linux-modules-nvidia-390-generic?
Using gparted, I created two 4096MB fat32 partitions on a 32GB USB flash drive, and then used unetbootin to install FD13LIVE.ISO on partition 1 using "ISO mode", and FD13FULL.IMG to partition 2 using "Floppy IMG" mode and rebooted.
After all the BIOS messages displayed, I got the error Missing Operating System. Obviously, I missed something, but what?
After doing apt update and apt dist-upgrade of Xubuntu 16.04, the nm panel plugin seems to have disappeared, both from my panel and the list of plugins.
Note the lack of Network Manager.
(Networking still works, though.)
