I have created a live USB of Ubuntu 18.04 from my already installed Windows 10 software Rufus.

1. I restart my laptop. When the Lenovo logo appears, I press Fn + F2. My laptop enters the BIOS setup utility.

2. In BIOS menu, I press → for the required number of times to move to the Boot tab.

3. There, my default UEFI is selected. By pressing ↓ for the required number of times, I move to Ubuntu Disk option shown under sub-tab of BOOT from. Then I pressed F6 (without Fn) one time. The Ubuntu Disk option moves to the top and Windows 10 Boot Manager moves to the second position.

4. Then I press F10 with the label Save and Exit. It makes the laptop to save the current configuration of BIOS setup utility and restart.

5. Now when the laptop reboots and the Lenovo logo appears, the laptop boots into Windows 10 mode.

Why is this happening and how can I accomplish my task?

I don't want to keep Windows 10 and I want to remove it completely. I only want to keep Ubuntu.

My Lenovo model is Lenovo IdeaPad 330.

If I select Legacy instead of UEFI under the Boot tab of the BIOS setup utility, the laptop is able to boot from the Ubuntu live USB, but in the start page, where I have to select language, and then either Try Ubuntu or Install Ubuntu option only my keyboard is working and the touchpad is not working.

Also if I select the Try Ubuntu option, the Ubuntu desktop appears, but there too only my keyboard keys are working and touchpad isn't working.

In legacy mode when the laptop boots from the Ubuntu live USB the following screen appears:

There is no option of f6 present there. Also the screen is completely different.

After following instructions from the comments, I entered the grub menu, but my grub menu looks different as shown below.

Also there is no ro quite splash. There is only quite splash - -. I replaced it with nomodset quite splash. Then I pressed f10.

The laptop rebooted from the live Ubuntu USB into Try Ubuntu, but still my TouchPad was not working.

I have a C# code which I need to compile, execute and decompile using the terminal.

How can I do so?

I am using Lubuntu 18.04. I am unable to connect to my Wi-Fi network. I just happened since an hour ago.

In my edit connections options it is showing my Wi-Fi name:

VodafoneMobileWifi-51BB

which was last active 1 hour ago.

My Enable Networking and Enable Wi-Fi options are checked.

But my laptop is suddenly unable to connect to the network.

My Wi-Fi adapter is Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377

I am trying to install Rhythmbox Mozilla PLugin via Synaptic. But I am getting the following error:

rhythmbox-mozilla:

The command:

Both Gnome-MPV and MPV player share the name MPV. So what is the difference between them?

My Ubuntu 18.04 is not starting. On going to advanced option I can see kernel 4.15.0.33 and 4.15.0.30. Each time I have to manually select kernel 4.15.0.30 to start Ubuntu.

Help.

Every time I install playonlinux and then on installing windows software when playonlinux automatically installs wine, Brackets gets uninstalled.

The command

sudo apt install brackets

is unable to install Brackets.

However on using the command

sudo apt install snapd
sudo snap install brackets

it says

My system may be at risk upon installing, if I understand what I am doing I may proceed using the command

sudo snap install brackets --classic

Upon giving this command it successfully installs Brackets.

But again if I install another windows software again Brackets gets uninstalled and I have to again install Brackets using snap command.

So why this happens?

I do not remember the exact terminal error prompt.

Also why my system may be at risk?

I am using Ubuntu 18.04. My graphics card is AMD Radeon R3 Graphics.

Clearly the blue circle appears purple. Why is it happening and how to solve it?

My system is thoroughly updated and upgraded.

Or is it that I am actually color blind?

I am using Ubuntu 18.04. I used synaptics to install eclipse. There I selected default eclipse and default dependencies as marked by synaptics, applied them and then closed synaptics.

Now when I press the window key in keyboard and type eclipse in search bar, the eclipse icon appears. On clicking on the icon, the eclipse application is unable to start. Instead I get a pop up menu saying

An error has occurred. See the log file /home/username/.eclipse/org.eclipse.platform_3.8_155965261/configuration/1528986311505.log

Also if I try to open eclipse from terminal, same thing happens

So how to fix this?

After installing Xubuntu 16.04, 3 headphones got damaged. I plugged the headphones into the headphone socket and within minutes the left ear side of headphone stopped working.

After reverting back to Ubuntu 16.04 everything is working fine again. No new headphones get damaged any more. (The damaged headphones remain as it is.)

Also bluetooth is not working in Xubuntu but working in Ubuntu. Likewise I am facing many other hardware issues in Xubuntu but not in Ubuntu.

Why is this happening?

I am using Acer laptop with configuration :

• AMD Quad-Core Processor A4-7210(up to 2.2 GHz)
• AMD Radeon^TM R3 Graphics
• 4GB DDR3 L Memory
• 1000 GB HDD

I am looking for a command line option.

For example, if I have the video sample-video.mp4, and I want to generate an image file sample-image.jpg from the video at time 00:00:26, what command should I give?

Also, it would be very helpful if you can explain in detail what the function of every argument of the command is.

In Ubuntu there is the option to enable night mode from Display in Gnome Control Center

In my Xubuntu I have installed Gnome Control Center

But over there the Display option shows

In gvim, by going to Edit ---> Select font I am selecting the font size 12. But after I close gvim and open gvim again I see that the font size has gone back to 10.

How can I set the font size to 12 permanently?
