I have Ubuntu 18.04 as my host OS. I want to live boot with an Ubuntu 18.04 iso to change my disk space using gparted without using USB.
I followed the steps that are required using unetbootin as described in the answer: https://askubuntu.com/a/484456/719469.
However I do not get any option called unetbootin in my grub menu when I boot my system using BIOS. Is there any solution?
I have a long pdf book and have to frequently access chapters using the index after clicking the outline option in the Evince dropdown menu as shown below.
My problem is that every time I open the document, Evince shows the thumbnails view by default. Is there any way I can view the outline of the document by default when I open Evince?
snap install evince and was surprised to learn that the newer version despite providing "Save Current Settings as Default" option for saving other settings, always opens the thumbnail view by default and what is worse it does not even keep the side pane open by default.
So each time in order to open the outline view, I have to open the side pane first and then click on the Outline option in the bottom navigation bar as shown below
P.S. I prefer using the Document Viewer or Evince as my pdf viewer and do not need a workaround using an alternate software

This process does not seem to stop. I do not know whether this process is recurring or making progress. Is there any way I can view the progress, or is there any other alternative? (My current Google Drive has 4.5GB of used storage space)
I recently installed Amazon Kindle using Wine 3.0 and PlayOnLinux on my Ubuntu 18.04. Everything works perfectly except for the full screen mode. When I press Fn+f11 I see a smaller windowed mode with everything else disappearing as shown below in the image.
I want the app to completely occupy my screen (hiding the dock and top bar) when I click on full-screen mode. Is there a way this can be solved?

Following this answer: https://askubuntu.com/a/320333/719469, I added Google to my GNOME accounts but when I click on my Drive account id in Nautilus, it does not show any file and in the bottom right corner it keeps on loading till 5-7 minutes.
I tried adding a new file when the loading process finally stopped, it synced and uploaded perfectly.
But when I navigate to a different directory after a few minutes (not immediately) and again try opening the drive directory, it starts the super slow loading process again
I know this can be overcome be working on a different Nautilus tab or window while keeping the Drive open. But it is really inconvenient to wait so much if I close that tab/window by mistake or reboot my PC.

Ever since I had selected my google drive account as my default storage location in Déjà Dup, an annoying icon with the name of my account shows up at the right side of my nautilus menu.
When I mount the drive, a desktop icon is created confirming it has been mounted. But when I try to view the drive's properties, I get this message:
Even changing the backup location to a local folder or turning off backup in Déjà Dup does not make the icon go away.
If i try to open the drive I get this message:
As visible here, the option to remove the drive is grayed out even when it is unmounted in the right click menu:
How do I make this go away once and for all?

I know the problem is this particular line in the above output:

PlayOnLinux used to work just fine with 16.04. After upgrading to 18.04 I cannot install MS office from it. After I select the setup and click on install this window pops up:
For approximately 3 seconds it shows this image
And then suddenly the image disappears and the window looks like this
When I try installing the software without PlayOnLinux using wine setup.exe I get the proper window look:
But eventually installation fails and I get this message:
Am I missing some essential package/software for rendering the graphics in PlayOnLinux?
This does not allow me to install MS Office using any method, I'm stuck.
Please do not suggest using LibreOffice or Virtual Box. I know both are great alternatives but I would appreciate a solution for this specific problem

I have a HP-notebook with Dual booted Windows, and I'm experiencing this problem from quiet a few days, after I type in my password at the login screen, Ubuntu gets stuck at a pink screen with only my mouse cursor visible, there is no sort of error shown at all
Booting from any other desktop environment works and starts in seconds as expected, however I prefer the default Ubuntu environment. I want to know what is the problem here and how do I solve it.

When the sound was working fine on my 18.04 before, I tried to modify /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf in order to solve a different issue following this answer. But after my sound stop working I removed the added lines which blacklisted the drivers. Could this have caused my problem?

Since I have Dual Boot on my PC, I booted into Windows in which also the sound was not working, the Windows troubleshooter couldn't identify the problem so I went in Device Managers and reinstalled the Realtek HD Audio Controller, It didn't solve my problem, the sound still wasn't playing but a remarkable thing that occured was when I booted back into Ubuntu 18.04, it detected a Built-in Audio

Despite detecting this 1 card now, I am still not being able to get any sound, please help out
Everything in the screenlets worked fine in my Ubuntu 17.10
However after upgrading to 18.04 not only do some screenlets (like the clock) appear to be a lot blurred than before but I cannot move any of the screenlets manually by clicking and dragging my mouse.
Is it because I accidentally removed one of the many libraries which the Software Updater suggested me were no longer needed during the distribution upgrade or is it some problem with the display of 18.04 and its compatibility with the screenlets app?
In any case is there a solution? Because I really want to be able to use a functional clock screenlet in 18.04.

Keyboard shortcut for "open a terminal here"
I followed the steps mentioned in in the top voted answer in the above link for my Ubuntu 16.04 and my custom keyboard shortcut for "open in terminal", when a directory in nautilus was opened, worked perfectly.
However I recently upgraded to 17.10, and though the ~/.config/nautilus/accels file remained unchanged, nothing happens when I press the keyboard keys for it now when Nautilus is opened.
I also turned can-change-accels "on" from the dconf-editor which somehow had turned false after upgrading to 17.10

Is there anyway to convert my .ps file back to .pdf if I know the password of the original encrypted .pdf file from which the .ps file was created?
Please suggest me a way to use any image like a re-sizable sticky note so that I can view it whenever I open my Unity Desktop.
I want it to be used like a homescreen photo widget app available on Android. So that even after rebooting my system, the image stays where it was positioned before, just like a sticky note.
What I want is depicted in the picture below:
In the above picture I placed the image on my Desktop, and resized the image icon to its maximum size, however this does not solve my problem as:
I cannot enlarge the image any further as this is the maximum size for resizing icons.
When I hover over the icon, the image gets highlighted which happens in case of icons, which I do not want
Even with the maximum icon size, the quality of the image becomes really poor as the image is distorted.
I want the image to be easily re-sized and re-positioned without having any of the disadvantages mentioned above.
I hope I am clear about my question now. If there is still any problem in understanding what I want please let me know.
