I'm running 20.04 on my desktop (with Nvidia 2080 super and Nvidia 440 driver) and it often freezes. I am suppose there could be an issue the bluetooth driver, or there could be an issue with gcc related packages? Because my bluetooth sometimes turns off by itself, and I'm using build-essential packages to compile some packages in c++. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
Kai Yang's questions
So 20.04 got released two days ago, but when is CUDA for 20.04 gonna be released? Is Nvidia usually following up quickly?
So I just had quite often random freezing screens with nvidia-driver-440 with ubuntu desktop environment and dkm3 or sddm manager. How should I solve this? It's very disturbing as I can't even get log for this because of the freezing screen.
output of lspci -k | grep -EA3 'VGA|3D|Display'

Subsystem: eVga.com. Corp. Device 3183

I use CUDA 10.2 so only nvidia 440+ can be used... not that I don't want the long-term driver.
So I am using Brave and Chrome browser, but both browser often quit suddenly (crashing) with no warning signs. I tried to reinstall the browser but it didn't help. Is there a problem with the browser?
I don't know how to post the log for this or where to find the log. Ubuntu 18.04. Thanks.
Brave: Version 1.2.43 Chromium: 79.0.3945.130 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Chrome: Version 79.0.3945.130 (Official Build) (64-bit)
so I am trying to install 18.04 on my desktop with Nvidia graphic cards and i9-9900k. Motherboard Auros z390 master. Now the installation won’t boot from my usb, which might be due to lack of Nvidia driver? So what should I do? Take out the Nvidia gpu and install it or anything better to do?
ps I don’t think it’s possible to boot from intel graphic card — when you have Nvidia GPU plugged in?
Update: problem solved after I took Nvidia gpu off and install 18.04, then install nvidia drivers and put gpu back
just got my XPS 9560 with Nvidia gtx 1050 graphics card, trying to install ubuntu on it, dual boot with windows 10 (AHCI). However, I encountered a few issues...
16.04.3: Cannot shut down or restart -- doesn't matter I do it with GUI, or do it under sudo command in Terminal, when I try to shut down or restart, it simply freezes, meaning that, the crusor disappears and everything else absolutely freezes there. Same thing will happen if I try Ubuntu booting into my external USB. (It also happens right after the installation when the system ask me to resart)
17.04: Cannot login. Everytime I turn on Ubuntu, the "Ubuntu" with dots under it will appears, then it hangs there. However, if I use recovery mode and resume, I am able to login and everything looks normal. This does not happen when I try Ubuntu on external USB. Some people suggest it might be the graphics card issue. However, even after installing the Nvidia driver, the issue does not go away. Plus 16.04.3 does not have this issue (it cannot shut down though). Everything else works, 17.04 can shut down normally.
I have used Ubuntu for more than a year and totally love it. However, I would love it more if Canonial can deal with those issues...
