I set up a dual boot windows 10, ubuntu 18.4.3 recently, all worked well.

Out of curiosity I clicked the "system setup" option in grub loader and it took me to the bios -- cool.

But now it will only take me to the bios! even on restart. In an atempt to troubleshoot I tried connecting the same usb that I intially used to boot up ubuntu and install it. But now UEFI doesn't recognize the usb, and in legacy mode I see the usb name but nothing changes b/c it always boots to the bios. (UEFI/GPT usb btw, FAT32 made with rufus). BTW I have tried both enabling and disabling secure boot and even reset bios settings to default. No good.

I'm not sure how, but simply clicking "system setup" in grub loader has changed something vital.

Prehaps grub loader is working but it goes straight to system setup right away and everytime? Possibly a bug with grub loader?

So I was able to do this: ./VBoxLinuxAdditions.run I got the warning could not find the X.org or xfree86 window system, skipping

When I do lsmod | grep guest I get vboxguest /*numbers*/ 3 vboxsf, vboxvideo /numbers/ is actual number code that I can't remember.

When I do VBoxService --version I get 5.1.26, which is the version for my VM VirtualBox.

This is : vboxadd-install.log enter image description here Problem is, I have shared clip board selected, but it doesn't work! I can't use CTRL + SHFT + V to paste into my ubuntu server 32 bit 17.04 VM!

I have spent hours and hours trying to get this work, I do not want my time to be spent in vain. Any help?

So after installing gcc sudo apt-get install gcc I rebooted reboot. But I still was not able to CRT + SHIFT + V, here is /var/logs/vboxadd-install.log after installing gcc and rebooting. enter image description here Above the line "make1: gcc: Command not found was just the same stuff from the first image, and under "Creating user for the guest additions" was en0ps3: reset adapter. and the same line "creating udev rule for the Guest Additions kernel module.

I am trying to set up a LAMP server on lubuntu 14.04.5, I erased index.html and replaced it with :

/var/www/html/index.php

Problem is that everything before this <?php tag executes and this seems to crash it. I do not know why, is it because I MUST have index.html?

So in my php error log I get undefined function mysqli_connect(). How do I make this an available function?

When I do aptitude search php5-mysql an i shows up meaning that it is installed. And there are no other mysql modules except for mysqlnd which I don't think I need since its just native directory and mysqlnd-ms How do I resolve this?

edit: I think I need to add the mysqli extension but having trouble locating it.

This is exactly what I have set up right now:

cd /var/www
mkdir -p test
cd /var/www/test
sudo nano index.html
cd /etc/apache2/sites-available
sudo nano test.conf

<VirtualHost *:80>
    ServerName localhost223.com
    DocumentRoot /var/www/test
</VirtualHost>

$sudo a2ensite test.conf
$sudo service apache2 reload

I can access my page like this:file:///var/www/test/index.html in web browser.

<html>
    <h1>
         here
    </h1>
</html>

But I cannot do access: http://localhost223.com

I get the error: Could not resolve host

How to resolve this issue?

(NOTE) I do not think this is a problem with VM VirtualBox, Previously I have installed Ubuntu server 17.04 and Ubuntu desktop 17.04 on it (both 32-bit). Ubuntu desktop was slow and unstable (random crashes) so I that is why I am trying to install Lubuntu 17.04 desktop 32-bit.

I am trying to install from an .iso file, I am able to get the menu where it says:

Try Lubuntu without installing
install Lubuntu
Test memory
Check disc for defects (BTW have done this, no defects found)
etc

I click install lubuntu. Then before I can do anything a black screen appears and then boom, this weird distorted screen appears. (This happened when installing Ubuntu 17.04 as well, but I was able use try Ubuntu without installing to get past this).

The problem is I get the same blue screen distortion when I try "Try Lubuntu without installing". So There is no way I can install Lubuntu.

Also note, when I press keys I see weird white lines show up, which I think are characters, so I think it may be a display problem?

I have allocated 1024 MB ram, 48 MB video memory 8 GB.vdi. Here an image of the distorted screen enter image description here
