I can start a Flatpak app on login, but I would like to start it minimized to the tray
flatpak run com.mattermost.Desktop --hidden
or
flatpak run com.mattermost.Desktop --background
or
flatpak run com.mattermost.Desktop --start-in-tray
doesn't work - any suggestions?
I'm working with a set of scripts that automate some bioinformatics (mitoVGP; https://github.com/VGP/vgp-assembly/tree/master/mitoVGP) and then the install is done as a conda environment.
The problem (sh symlinked to dash, as opposed to bash) has been outlined by @SergiyKolodyazhnyy in the first answer here: "set -e -o pipefail" not working on bash script on Ubuntu 16
So, my question is, how do I fix these scripts, or else make it such that invoking them with makes them such that they work/run in a bash environment on Ubuntu?
Is the Wireguard PPA on launchpad for 18.04 defunct now (October 7th, 2020)? If so, has it been moved or just deprecated.
Currently I have two monitors plugged into the two DVI connectors on an nVIDIA GeForce GTX660 GPU. When I maximise a windows of a programme, it stretches across both monitors. I would like to have a maximised window just on one monitor. How do I do that? TIA.
I am trying to have a FlatPak programme (DejaDup) run a "Backup Automatically" - which means it runs in the background. How do I give a FlatPak programme the permissions to run in the background on 18.04?

Been using a Pluggable UD3900 (displaylink chipset) for over two years without issues. Today, the video out stopped working. Checked all cables and tried a windows laptop - the dock is working as expected on Windows. Under 18.04 LTS with kernel 5.3.0-7625-generic, and Intel HD 620 onboard graphics, the usb display stopped working.
No external monitor detected, even with randr.
Any ideas?
Given that autopackage.org is now defunct, is it possible to install an "autopackage" in Ubuntu 18.04?
Installed K3B on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. The emovix dependency, and/or optional programme is not installed. The emovix and/or movixmaker-2 packages are not in the 18.04 repos - is there a way to install this, or were they simply not packaged for 18.04?

Using Steam in Ubuntu 16.04 and there are no drop-down menu items when I click on the Steam Icon in the taskbar using Unity. Steam works, but just no drop-down menu items. How do I fix this?
I have a laptop and wish to do a fresh install with full disk encryption. I would like to have my OS installed on the SSD an,d after installation, move my /home directory to the HDD.
Is it possible to ask the installer to fully encrypt BOTH drives at the time of install?
Is it possible to use ONE password to decrypt both drives at boot? Would I be correct in assuming that I would have to have LUKS installed on both drives (to handle the encyption) and then stretch (or else link) a LVM across the two drives?
This is the part that I am the most unsure of/how to do.

Using 16.04.4 LTS and LibreOffice [PPA] Version: 5.4.4.2; Build ID: 1:5.4.4~rc2-0ubuntu0.16.04.1~lo1; CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.13; UI render: GL; VCL: gtk2; Locale: en-US (en_US.UTF-8).
Symbol FONT and many other glyph-type symbols stopped working on upgrade to to the PPA. They just appear as boxes. Is this a bug, or a "feature" that I don't know how to reverse?

I am having a problem getting RSYNC to backup remotely to a LaCie-2big-NAS (internet connected HDD). I have set all the permissions for the target directory to be "rwx" (read, write, executable) and if I ssh into the drive, I can rwx without issue. However, I cannot use RSYNC to initiate a session.

Is there a logfile of the messages that are printed onscreen underneath the splash screen in 16.04? If so, where are they, or what is the name of the file?
