I shut down my computer the hard way and next startup there was message on boot for several seconds saying recovering journal
. Four startups later and the message was not there - only the first time. Looks like there are no consequences or side effects. Thanks to this question I know why it happened but nowhere on the internet says what the journal is. There are no problems with it, I'm just interested in what it is.
Jacob's questions
Every time I try sleep mode computer won't partially shut down as expected, it just log out. Similar strange behaviour apply to hibernation mode when computer restarts instead of shutting down (yes, my computer is capable of hibernation). However, shutting down or logging out works fine. I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 with Xfce for several months already and I'm happy with it but this thing driving me crazy because back in windows I was using hibernation mode a lot and I'd like to keep this style of workflow.I wish to tell you more but I really don't know what is happening on background or what causing it. Although I didn't told you much, I told you everything I know about this problem.
In certain apps (like Opera browser) file dialog shows squares instead of chars. I'm using XFce. Using Ubuntu-Regular font everywhere and always encoding in UTF-8. I read somewhere it is fault of XFce because it picks up wrong font but I'm unable to find solution. Do someone knows how to solve this issue ?

My favorite web brower depends on libcurl3 (Opera 36.0) But many apps depends on libcurl4 including PlayOnLinux or Steam client. It will be nice to have PlayOnLinux or Steam installed but I'm not giving up my favorite web browser. Do someone knows workaround how I can have installed both of them ? I readed somewhere that libcurl4 is based on libcurl3 so I have no idea why they keep uninstalling each other.
I proudly own Wacom Intuos S what is great tool for bedroom-coder / one-man-company like myself. Driver is installed, module is loaded and server is running. Only problem is that I'm unable to find GUI application to configure draw pad. Windows have nice configuration utility, where I can find something similar for Ubuntu linux ? I know there are terminal commands to configure draw pad but for someone who recently switched from Windows, GUI application might be better. I found one but it is dead project by now.
Do someone know about such application ?
I installed Ubuntu and sound not working. I already tried every question on stack exchange and all over internet. I'm using Lenovo B50-80 with intel corporation broadwell-u audio controller. I can't hear external or internal audio outputs.Apparently, my sound card is not recognized by ubuntu and dummy output is used. For some reason I have always 0 modules loaded.

When using Wine to run Worms 4 mayhem, all mouse input events (mouse movement, button pressing and even scrolling) move cursor towards bottom-right corner a little. I had tried various configurations including virtual desktop, disabling mouse acceleration and disabling touchpad. I had no chance to try other fullscreen apps yet.
Did someone encountered same or similar problem and posses knowledge how to fix it ?
Edit :
I tried my favorite Brutal Doom Black Edition using linux version of GZDoom and cursor have some offset from real positin. Can it be caused by XFce ?
Edit2 :
Just I tried AgeOfEmires 2 and cursor is fine... Strange.
I installed a video game and wanted to understand it so I tried to install unofficial Czech translation. Unfortunately installer thinks I have 0 Mb of available space because of wine prefix. Can I somehow assign more space to wine prefix ?
I'm also pretty sure it isn't problem with real disc space because I have used only 20% of all space.
Apparently, wine prefixes have only assigned space available instead of using all space of hard drive.
I'm using PlayOnLinux. Installer says I have 0 Mb available if I install unsupported software or open exe in this virtual drive, so I'm kinda out of choices.
Note: I'm Linux user (or how I like to call myself : Sudomancer) for 5 days so I really don't know much about Ubuntu or Wine.
I want to play idle-action games (like Witcher I or FTL) with a single hand. These games are both action and idle because you can press spacebar to stop action and think about strategy and what to do next. This pause cannot be remapped to mouse in-game and that is why I asking here. In Ubuntu, is there any possible way how to fake spacebar input every time I press 4th mouse button?
Note: I'm running these games using wine
I know C# and I like to switch between systems and use Linux. Can I use C# to build applications that will natively work on Linux? What should I do to make use of my knowledge of C# in a Linux system?
Note that I'm specialized in Unity3D, but I still want to create Linux applications using C#.
