I am running Ubuntu 18.04 on a Lenovo 320 laptop. I realize this question has been asked before, but the earlier questions seem to concern much older versions of Ubuntu and were prior to system.d.

So, my issue is that every time my computer wakes from suspend, the screen brightness is reset back to maximum even if the slider control doesn't show it. I like to run my screen brightness at about 60 to 70 percent of maximum to avoid headaches. My computer rather often goes to sleep and this has become a maddening problem for me.

I am running Ubuntu 18.04 on a computer with an AMD processor and Radeon R7 graphics.

Totem plays videos (especially mp4's) in a very haulting manner as if it hits snags. The audio is fine, but the video is maddening. I've tried everything I know of to remedy this to no avail. I've tried uninstalling codecs in case it might be a conflict of codecs. I installed the Oibaf driver. Nothing works.

This does not happen with other video players. The playback is much smoother.

Any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix it? I would greatly appreciate any advice.

I am trying to run Ubuntu 18.04 on a computer with an AMD processor and AMD Radeon R7 graphics. I believe the driver for AMD Radeon R7 graphics has problems and may be buggy. I have had a problem with Totem which I asked in a separate question, but I have another problem where (sometimes) if I suspend the computer then bring it back to life, I get a hash of colors and pixels and cannot get the computer back without shutting it down (and losing a lot of work).

Is there anything I can do to improve things? Also, is there any place where I can report problems with drivers and possible bugs? What are my options? There is a driver produced by AMD for Ubuntu 16.04 but it doesn't work with the 18.04 kernel.

I just installed Ubuntu 18.04 along with the restricted extras. I've also installed virtually all the GStream packages in an attempt to fix this problem. Whenever I try to play an mp4 I get a mixture of psychedelic colors. I can make out movement in the videos, but I cannot discern features. I do not have this problem with another Linux I installed.

My computer runs an AMD processor with R7 Radeon graphics.
