For some reason my terminals insist on starting maximized since a couple of days. Which is neither a wanted behaviour nor especially useful on an UHD display. I might have closed a terminal window in maximized state and for some reason Gnome has saved that...where exactly?

Where are window properties for different applications saved and when? In my experience this behaves a little erratically anyway and I'd like to edit those preferences if "automatic mode" behaves weird.

Bionic Desktop with Gnome 3.28.2, Gnome-Terminal

I'm on Bionic and the version of my Nautilus Filemanager is 3.26.4. I have quite a lot of different network folders defined in fstab: sshfs, nfs, smb, you name it. Plus a couple of USB drives that are plugged in almost constantly.

As you can imagine some of those are more important than others. So I'd really like to have a say in what Nautilus displays in the sidebar and what doesn't show up. Instead, Nautilus seems to have decided for itself what to display there and presents an interesting collection of items that is less than optimal.

I can't find out why rarely used items are deemed worthy to be displayed in the sidebar while important ones are banned to the vaults of "other places". And how I can change this.

Do you have any ideas or workarounds for this? Where do you control the behaviour of Nautilus' sidebar beyond a couple of bookmarks?

I tried to install Bionic server as a guest on XenServer 7.0. After booting the iso I get a black terminal saying:

vbd vbd-5696: 19 xenbus_dev_probe on device/vbd/5696

And that's it. Did anyone have more success or can point me to a way to resolve this?

I tried to set up an encrypted folder on Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial with Gnome desktop. I know that encfs is not considered especially safe anymore, I decided to use it for my purpose anyway. Encrypting a folder with

encfs /home/xy/.hidden /home/xy/unhidden

worked fine. To add a little more usability to that, I installed cryptkeeper and started it. When I now try to import the newly created encfs-folder, I can see it in the file selection dialog, after enabling hidden files, but I can't seem to figure out how to actually select it for import. There's no "OK" or "Select" button when I highlight it. There's no difference if the folder is mounted or not. Is that a known bug of this combination or am I too dumb to select a folder?

In english: "Ordner anlegen" means "Create folder", "Abbrechen" is "Cancel" and "Vor" seems to be "Prev." in this context.

Just installed Ubuntu 15.10 with Gnome 3. Using the Gnome Tweak-Tool I switched on Min/Maximise Buttons. Applications start maximised. When I un-maximise them, holding Alt and pulling down, there are no window borders, titlebars etc. and of course no Window buttons. How can I repair that?
