I have installed LXQt on Ubuntu Server. I can connect to it with XRDP just fine.
Then I tried to setup TigerVNC. This fails and results in a desktop that does not respond properly. For example, I cannot open the file manager but terminal opens fine.
This is the xstartup file content:

I have a Lenovo X1 Gen 7 system. The suspend and hibernate systemd's used to work just fine until I updated the kernel from 5.3.0-40 to 5.3.0-42. Now both of these commands cause the system to go blank and freeze. The only option to recover is to force a reboot.

I am using ClamAV to scan for viruses on my machine (Ubuntu 19.10). Are there specific folders that I should scan or should I pretty much scan everything under /?
I have been using suspend-then-hibernate on my laptop to suspend and have it go to hibernation after a delay. This used to work just fine.
Recently, this command is not working anymore. When I run it, the screen goes black, and then the login screen shows up as it just locked my account.
I ran sudo systemctl status systemd-suspend-then-hibernate.service and it shows the following:

If I ran the command without sudo, I get Failed to put system into suspend followed by hibernate via logind: Access denied.
Both suspend and hibernate work well.
Any idea on how to debug/fix this issue?
I have a Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen 7 with Ubuntu 18.04. This devise has one HDMI port and two USB-C port. I want to connect two external monitors on one USB-C port.
When I ran xrandr, I get the following:

Then I got one of these USB-C adapters with 2-HDMI ports, connected it to the laptop using the USB-C port and connected the two external monitors on the HDMI output of the hub.
The problem is that the two monitors show exactly the same thing, and when I go the Display setting, I only see one monitor. It seems that the two HDMI ports on the hub, are detected as one device.
This same thing happens when I use the other USB-C port. So my question is that if there is a way to have two external monitors using this hub or similar hubs from one USB-C port.
I was using Cisco Anyconnect just fine until couple of days ago. But now, it keeps constantly connecting and then reconnecting in cycles of a few seconds, making it completely useless. I know this is not an issue with the server because I tested the connection on a Win machine and it worked just fine.
So, being new to ubuntu, what are the steps to debug this issue?

I have been using Evolution. But it does not support right-to-left. The best one can do is to try "right alignment", but that does not type punctuation like dot and comma at the right place.
I have two monitors. One is horizontal and one is vertical. I like to split my vertical monitor into up and down, so that I can have two windows on it, one on the upper part and one on the lower part. How can I do this?
I know one can use (super + arrows) to send a window right or left.
I like to use vnc to connect to an existing session/display on my ubuntu machine, either actual or virtual (like created with Xvfb). I need to set it up through terminal and ssh, i.e. I do not have access to the machine.
I have explored 3 options but each lack a feature I need.
vino:
Works fine, but it does not seem possible to only send a portion of the display with something like a -Geometry option.
x11vnc:
Works fine, but the -repeat bug is a bummer. It is explained under -repeat option here.
x0vncserver:
Works very well and I thought this is the one I have been looking for. However, the clipboard does not get synced between host and server as mentioned here.
So, are there any other options? I do not want to use TeamViewer of NoMachine and I like to have gnome ubuntu dekstop.
I use x0vncserver to connect to my ubuntu display. I start it with /usr/bin/x0vncserver -display :0. I can see it running with pidof x0vncserver.
I have also seen that the proper way to stop vncserver is to use vncserver -kill :xx command.
Is there a similar command to properly stop x0vncserver or one should just use killall x0vncserver to stop it?
When trying sudo systemctl stop x0vncserver, I got:

In general, I like to see all the hidden files. So I have used Ctrl+H to have Nautilus show all the hidden files.
But now thanks to this issue with google drive, I like Nautilus not to show the hidden files in my mapped google drive folder.

How can one set vino's password through terminal in Ubuntu 18.04?
Here it uses vino-passwd command, but this gives me vino-passwd: command not found.
One can set a password for vino through GUI or command line. An example is provided here. But is it possible to set the password of vino the same as the password for the user account automatically using the command line?
Like if the user account is ubuntu:
1) A command to read the password for ubuntu. 2) A command to write that password as the password for vino.
I see way more files in my mapped Google Drive dir in Ubuntu compared with what I see when I use the Google Drive web app. These extra items are also not in my "Shared with me" folder in the web app.
I have been trying to send emails with ssmtp through my outlook account. I followed this page and this is what I have inside ssmtp.conf:

nothing happens, and the terminal freezes. Any clue where I can start debugging this?

The instance runs ubuntu 18.04 LTS. I have also installed ubuntu 18.0418.04 LTS on a PC that I have and I really like the interface.
The problem though is that when I remotely connect to the ec2 instance, the GUI does not look like my PC.
How can I have my ec2 instance have the same GUI?
