I've installed Ubuntu 22.04 on a VM. Inserting the "Guest Additions" ISO, I expected that the provided "Run Software" Button on the right side of the File manager would work.
Nautilus/Files was "backdropped" when pressing the button, but nothing happened:
Is this a new gnome feature or do I have to configure something for it to work? (Besides opening and executing it in a terminal the "classical" way)
Same procedure on Ubuntu 20.04 runs flawlessly (as expected)
Using Ubuntu 20.04 I found that - opposed to some other distributions - none of the menu icons or buttons icons are shown. Is this another "tweak" of the Gnome team? There has been a discussion here, it seems that people who can't read very well are getting a hard time.

Just found out that Ubuntu derived "Linux Mint 20" has the scheme "org.cinnamon.desktop.interface/menu_have_icons" that seems to work. The same applies to the buttons...
It boils down to this: Some users are aware of this problem or that problem and some aren't.
Gimp is disabled as well
(Continuing to select voices that think this approach is ... strange)
I am running Xubuntu 20.04 with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 and an AMD Ryzen 7 CPU.
The Nvidia driver version is 450.66, the kernel is 5.4.0-47-generic
Starting up without previous hibernation works fine, no excessive CPU load. Invoking hibernation works fine, no error entries whatsoever, resuming is fast and without any problems (checked dmesg and journalctl).
After logging in from lightdm top shows a CPU load of 100% of Xorg. The high CPU load persists for up to 5 Minutes, on one core mostly.
I've read some similar threads (e.g. the XModmap bug), checked the xfce4 config files for empty values, but found nothing. So any idea where to look would be appreciated.

I've written a software that runs on Ubuntu.. (18.04 and 20.04 tested). I did not package it, since I'm using Arch linux as well, but wrote an installation script. It copies some files and generates a desktop file which is recognized and can be run if I search it in "Activities".
But I do not see it in the "Select Application" dialog if I right click a video (for which the software has been written) and select "Open with Other Application".

The desktop file works on Xubuntu (and other XFCE Distros) as well as on Lubuntu & Kubuntu with the corresponding "Select Application" dialogs.
Something is missing in that desktop file, that obviously only gnome needs.

To concat two mp4 or ts files (I've both formats) ffmpeg offers some calls that I've tried. Both "concat protocol" (for h264 TS files) and "Concat demuxer" (for h264 PS files) produce artifacts that are unpleasant to watch:

The "cat" option does not work for codecs with timestamps (which AVC/h264 has). Since I'm reluctant to remux the clips I wonder if there is another way to achieve a clean merge

I get the following warning:

The link is not very explicit, and trying to get the buttons out of the initalizer leads to other, more severe problems.
My question is: What is the proper,offical and correct way to initialize such a dialog?
