I was running Ubuntu 14.04 and lost all kernels, however I managed to reinstall a kernel by running the live cd and mounting and chrooting into old partitions. (one of the partitions is encrypted)

Now after booting, I get this error:

Gave up waiting for root device... 
/dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-root does not exist. 
dropping to a shell...

initramfs _

The ubuntu--vg-root is what the unlocked partition goes to. I think it will be back if I unlock the encrypted partition I have. But GRUB is not asking me for a password. How can I fix that?

I am on (initramfs) shell... no cryptsetup/udisksctl available from there.

tail -f will update the file once new data is inserted , but if the whole file is being rewritten it will give an error .

is there any other option to keep reloading the whole file ?

The command quickly run is not working after I renamed the folder and created a new one with same name and moved the contents of the renamed folder to the new one .

Here is the error:

ERROR: No run command found.
Candidate commands are: commands, getstarted, help, quickly

i have this code :

player_name.set_state(gst.PLAYING)

it keeps throwing me the following error :

 player_name = gst.element_make_factory("playbin", "Multimedia Player")
 AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'element_make_factory'

nay way to solve this and why is this happening ?

if i print gst i get the following : <module 'gst' from '/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gst-0.10/gst/__init__.pyc'>

so it is a module !

I was wondering is it possible to play sounds in Ubuntu using Quickly and Python without including any libs like pygame or pymedia or anything ?

Just the stock packages that come with Python ?

I have a Think Pad at work and the keyboard is really killing me (the left Ctrl is not on the most left and it has the FN key there).

I use a lot of Ctrl + C, Ctrl + v while writing code and this FN key annoys me (I keep pressing it instead of Ctrl).

Anyway, how to make the FN key the CTRL key?
