I have a 4k LG monitor and it normally works just fine with Ubuntu. Today (3/15/2021) I installed updates, changed the audio settings from SPDIF output to the monitor, and rebooted. Now I have no resolution options other than 1024x768 and I can't figure out how to get them back. My monitor is no longer identified as a "LG 27 inch monitor" (it is 32", but linux always thinks it is 27").

Secure boot is set up correctly and I tried uninstalling the Nvidia 460 driver and installing the 450 version and that did not help.

I finally got 4k resolution back after switching to the Nouveau display driver, but now Software & Updates shows this:

And it does not allow me to re-install a Nvidia driver. What could be going on here?

Running Ubuntu 20.04. This past Monday it updated to the Nvidia 450 driver (1080 Ti). At first, apt upgrade just removed the 440 driver and refused to install the new one, but in the additional drivers utility I was able to install the new 450 driver. Since installing it, the HDMI audio stops working and the option to select it as an output device disappears when I lock my screen (Meta (windows key) + L) and unlock with my password. A reboot recovers the HDMI audio. Anyone know what's going on/how to fix? SPDIF never stops working.

I'm running Ubuntu 20.04 on an ASUS X99-E-10G WS w/ an NVIDIA 1080Ti and an LG 4k 32" monitor which persistently gets recognized as 27".

When I log in, the text of certain UI elements is ~2x the normal size. After I go to settings/universal access and turn large text on and then off again, everything is the normal size I expect.

How do I get the conditions I have after cycling the "large text" feature to be present immediately after booting?

I have the 440 version of NVIDIA's drivers installed.
