Recently the issue has occurred where launching Foxit Reader does not open an active window on the desktop. Launching it from its .desktop
file shows the icon appearing on the Unity bar with an orange dot (I assume indicating the application is running), but clicking on it does not bring up it's window. The Foxit Reader tab also appears on the top panel. Right-clicking the icon in the Unity bar and selecting All Windows does indeed show what I should be seeing on the desktop, but even selecting that does not bring it up.
I don't know if there is any way too fix this or perhaps install it's .run
file as root? Tried uninstalling it and rebooting followed by a reinstall but nothing seems to work.
ManP's questions
I've recently gotten to know Ubuntu 18.04, being very new to Linux. WINE has been one of the most useful tools I've also come across because now I can use my Windows applications on my Linux platform.
But how do I uninstall those Windows applications, such as Putty? It's not a snap so I can't remove it via the Ubuntu Software application, neither is there a clear way via the terminal to do it since I assume the files will be saved under a different repository being a Windows application originally.
Soon after installing Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS on my machine, 2 of my USB ports stopped working. One was immediate, while the other stopped after a few weeks of use. I have one USB port left at the moment to utilize. Before resorting to reinstalling Ubuntu I wanted to check if I should change any possible configuration or execute commands to enable these USB ports. From the attached findings after running "dmesg | grep -i USB" I found that the USB ports are definitely identified.
I assume from this, the USB ports on the machine are fine. Is there anything with regards to driver packages that I should reinstall? It just seems odd that Ubuntu 18.04 can pick up on the hubs but when plugging anything in nothing appears to get picked up. My system runs on a Dell XPS L502x with an i7 CPU. The eSATA USB port is the one that works while the 2 other USB 3.0 ports don't read anything. I'm just starting off in the world of Linux so I'm not as experienced as yet, so any help to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.
