I would like that Discover in my Kubuntu fully and automatically installs all updates in the background. I looked into Muon and set the opion active: "Install security without confirmation". I set everthing there to automatic what was possible. But I get still (security) updates in Discover and I have always to confirm the installation. I don't want to confirm again and again - I want to be always up to date. How can I do it? And why is the setting in Muon not effective?

Btw: I also noted that there is no Live Patch in Kubuntu. This option is not in the "software sources". It was in Ubuntu. I am wondering why not in Kubuntu?

I use Kubuntu 20.04.1 on a fully encrypted hard 500 GB disk (LVMS). I wanted to resize the partitions to make backup. Unfortunately even the latest version of partition magic is not able to resize it. I asked this question here in askubuntu in another post - but still unanswered.

As I cannot resize partitions I booted from a Live USB Stick and tired to create an image of the whole disk with GNOME Disks, but even if I unlock the encryted drive there is an error message that the disk is active or so and the backup image cannot be created. I literally cannot make any image backup of my encrypted Kubuntu. I am really suprised that there is no way to do it. Is it really not possible?

I installed Kubuntu 20.04 on a completely encrypted disk / partition. Now I would like to shrink the encrypted partition to backup it. I tried to do it with a Live USB Stick with GParted 1.1.0 (one of the newest versions that can handle LVM / encryption). I read that old GParted version can't do it, but this one is a new one. I can unlock the partition, but it is not possible to resize it. Why? How can I do it?

When I try to start Plasma Discover on my Kubuntu 20.04 by clicking on it nothing happens.

I can only start it on the command line with "sudo plasma-discover". Then it opens but the Discover start page with recommendations brings the error: "Application could not be loaded. Please check the Internet connection". But the Discover still works. Additionally: when I try on the command line only "plasma-discover" without sudo then I get this:

"Icon theme "gnome" not found".

I deinstalled and re-installed "plasma-discover" package, but it did not change the situation. Is there a way t reset the Discover again somehow?

I want to install Kubuntu 20.04. (encryprted LVM) and Windows 10 on the same SSD disk. Kubuntu will delete and encrypt the full disk. How can install both in dual boot then? Normally I install Windows and then Kubuntu which sees Windows and adds Windows 10 to the boot menu. But now I have first to install Kubuntu because it deletes and encrypts the WHOLE disk.

In fact I have already Kubuntu (unencrypted) with Windows 10 working. Is it a way to encrypt Ubuntu partionon only? It would be easier then doing everything again from scratch.

I installed Pixma TS6052 on a Kubuntu 20.04 system and use Skanlite for scanning. The scanner is capable to scan up to 1200 DPI.

When I scan with 300 DPI it goes fast and everthing is OK. When I scan with 600 or even 1200 DPI the scanner is woking even if it lasts of course a bit longer. But then when the scanner is ready skanlite brings an error message "inalid argument". This is only at 600 or 1200 DPI. 300 DPI is fine.

Can somebody help to fix it? I use official scanner driver from Canon.

I wanted to install my Pixma TS6052 as a network printer. I have installed Canon drivers for my Pixma TS6052. Now when I see in my Kubuntu 20.04 2 Canon Pixma TS6000 series network printers there. They were added automatically by Kubuntu. It is nice from Ubuntu to discover my network printers, but I do not want them to be installed automatically. When I try to remove them they stay and don't go.

How can I remove them or at least leave ony one?

On Kubuntu 20.04: When I enter my login password after a reboot - the KDE wallet gets opened during login and the wifi password (which is stored in the wallet) can be read by the wifi configuration. So all works as expected.

When I would like to use autologin and enable it, I get logged in automatically, but after the reboot the KDE wallet window appears and ask me to enter the user password. It is because KDE password wallet is still locked and wifi tries to read the password there. The only solution is to put the wifi password unencrypted for all computer users in the network settings. But this is a very bad solution to have an uncrypted password in the system. Why is it not possible to have both autologin and encrypted wifi password? I just can believe that is not possible/working in Kubuntu 20.04. Is there no way to achieve it?

After installation of Kubuntu 20.04 with German install settings I noticed that parts of the system are still in English:

a) Right-click on Desktop shows English menus b) Dolphin is in English c) Discover is in English. d) Login screen has English button labels

This all, eventhough I chose German in the regional settings as the only language. I even removed English there.

Why does it happen and how can I clean this mess globally and set all to German?

I am using Kubuntu 20.04 and would like to encrypt the home folder to protect my data if the hard disk / laptop is stolen. Can anybody help me how to do it? Which tool is recommended for it?

I use Kubuntu 20.04 on my Thinkpad T495 with a trackpoint. The trackpoint is not working smooth even if I set the highest speed in the settings. I investigated it and tried this commands:

Acceleration is better but the sensitivity is still low, the TP is too slow then too fast and my finger top hurts. I looked at many hints but can't find the right way to configure the trackpoint. I would really appreciate some hints how to do it so that it works the same smooth way as in windows. Are there no tools out the box for it?

I installed a fresh copy of Kubuntu 20.04. on my Thunkpad T495 (AMD CPU + Vega graphics). I can enroll my finger prints with "fprintd-enroll" successfully. So the FP reader works generally. But I cannot see any setting for enabling the FP for login. Where are these settigs? In Ubuntu 20.04. you can do it in user settings, but not in Kubuntu. Doesn't the KDE desktop have these settings at all?

I even tried the manual way and added the line:

auth sufficient pam_fprintd.so

to:

/etc/pam.d/polkit-1 and /etc/pam.d/sudo etc...

However, it does not help. Has anybody an idea how to do it?
