Every now and then my system is not properly suspending. Shutting the lid, choosing to suspend from the graphic interface or running a command is shutting down the screen, but the system will come back up again after a few seconds. Running troubleshooting shows that some devices are blocking the system from suspending. What can be done to allow my system to suspend?

I am using Thunderbird (version 68.7) on a fresh install of Ubuntu 20.04 but I do not get any notification popup in the system tray.
I switched on notifications in the Thunderbird settings and notifications from other applications (such as Ubuntu Software Updater) are visible.
Besides, I used the same Thunderbird configuration on Ubuntu 19.04 earlier (as kept the config files and stored messages on my home partition)
Do I need to install any additional packages?
On a HP Laptop with Ubuntu 19.04 (dual boot with Windows 10) the internal loud speakers and headphones are working. Unfortunately only after a boot or reboot, but not after waking up the laptop from suspend.
Ubuntu recognizes the audio device after a suspend (listed in lspci) but neither loud-speakers nor headphones work. Volume can be modified but does not change anything. Do you have any idea how to force to re-load them after suspend?
sudo lspci -v

I tried the commands suggested here under step 1 without success.
My laptop is a 14ma0307ng.
I'm using LibreOffice 6.2.2.2 on Ubuntu 18.10 since a week and on every document characters are sometimes lost or placed in the wrong way. By that I mean that as I type for example linux
it will print lnuix
at the screen although I pushed it the right way.
This occurs irregularly. I don't have necessarily a high CPU use when it occurs (sometimes around 30%).
Does someone know how to resolve this? For example, can one change the priority of keyboard input?
On my Lenovo ideapad 100 which is about 2 years old, I'm running Ubuntu 18.04. Everything is fine except that last week the system starts to power-off suddenly or to display a corrupted screen for about 30 seconds and then to power off.
My work-around for now is to keep the laptop connected and 100% charged as those problems only occur when it is running on battery. I supervised the CPU temperature but I didn't remarked anything suspicious. I also booted the device without opening any applications so that CPU activity is the as low as it can be (with Ubuntu booted) but the power-off occurs nevertheless.
I'm surprised because until last week the battery kept up to 4hours, so that I eliminated all tests related to a battery problem.
Any hints would be deeply appreciated!

I would like to sync my files with Drive as described in the answer here.
Following those steps, I always get the message: "Login expired. Log in to activate account" just after a successful login into Google. The message is displayed in the dialogue where one can normally choose the functions to be synced (calendar, files...)
After an upgrade to 17.10 internal keyboard and touchpad suddenly stopped working. This problem occurs even during startup, so I can't even boot from USB. This problem probably occured after I created a new user account, but I deleted it in the meantime and no change. After the installation, everything worked still well. However, I can use external USB mouse. Can someone please help me? I'm completely lost.

Or can this be a hardware problem? Thanks a lot!
when I try to run HTC Evo 4.3 (or other devices, it doesn't matter) in Genymotion (2.3.0 x64) (with VirtualBox 4.3.10) on Ubuntu 14.04, I get:
The virtual device got no IP address. The VirtualBox DHCP server has not assigned an IP address to the virtual device.
My settings in Virtual Box are the following:
How can I assign an IP address to the device?
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
I'm trying to make an alias for my shell script which is saved in ~/Dokumente/music.sh
Therefore, I added following line to ~/.bash_aliases
:
alias music='.//home/robin/Dokumente/music.sh'
After saving, I executed source ~/.bash_aliases
.
I think the alias itself is working fine, but ./ doesn't find the file. Why? I've tried multiple things (e.g. ~/Dokumente/music.sh
) but nothing works.
I can execute the script when I type ./music.sh
within the containing folder. That shouldn't be the point…
I want the script being executable from any direction with this user.
Any help would be appreciated!
since I use Ubuntu 13.10, I'm experiencing a bug:
- I activate standby
- I press any key to continue working on my laptop
- The computer is on again, but the wlan doesn't work.
→ The wlan network then is disabled by default, but I can't enable it, it doesn't shows any network available.
Good evening,
just experienced a funny bug (?):
When I switch to tty terminal, my mouse pointer still appears, but is in the center of the screen. When I switch back into graphical mode, the pointer is on the same position as when I switched to terminal mode.
Course, this is not sore, but it's strange!
Did someone experienced it before? I do just after the latest updates…
Does anyone know against which package to file a bug in Launchpad?
Thanks ;)

are my files stored in Ubuntu One secure from the American intelligence agency (NSA)? In which country are they stored? Is it better than using Dropbox or any other popular cloud?
Thanks in advance for your answers!
I want my laptop to shutdown when I close the laptop lid. But in the power settings I can only choose between:
- Suspend
- Do nothing
Hibernate(Disabled)
Is there any way to configure it with more options?
how to display the actual network traffic (wireless) in a terminal?
Additionally: Is it possible to add this info to the chart of top
?
