Whenever I boot 20.04, I see this window for like a few seconds. I wonder what it is? It disappears after some time. Sometimes this window closes itself last longer than expected; up to like 30 seconds. Trying to close that window is pointless because it won't.

This is a pop-up message I see in the notification area.

If someone knows what it is, I all ears. If this is a bug, I am only experiencing then do let me know. It's really annoying to bear this and not to do anything about it. So, I asked.

Any forms of tips/info/corrections are highly appreciated.

Sometimes it happens like this: Dell Logo > Ubuntu purple screen > Dell logo > Ubuntu purple screen > Dell logo > finally booting with Ubuntu purple screen.

I use the ZFS file system in Ubuntu 19.10. If there is any output that is required, I will be happy to link it here.

Don't know what happened. But all of sudden I can't push updates in GitHub. A month ago I used SSH keys to integrate VS Code with Github so that I do not have to type email & password every single time when I use to push updates to the Git repository.

I think BleachBit has deleted some important files and this is happening. But this is my wild guess. I can't confirm this. Because I didn't do anything other than that. VS Code used to work fine. Suddenly this is happening. I gotta be careful with Bleachbit if this is an act of Bleachbit.

Meanwhile, I am going nuts over for a week thinking how to solve this issue. If you had this issue, then do comment it out.

When I did ls /usr/bin/ssh-askpass, it say there is no file or folder. This might be the cause of the problem. But I do see these folders inside /usr/bin related to ssh: ssh ssh-add //is a file that supposed to be deleted when I unistalled ssh-askpass ssh-agent //is a file ssh-argv0 ssh-copy-id ssh-keygen ssh-keyscan

In Firefox, I tried to install GNOME Shell extension Desktop Icons made by Rastersoft, but I got this error:

I need some icons my Desktop which include both folder & Indicator-sticky-notes. Installing other extensions is not the option because they will obviously lack:

1. Resize desktop icons
2. Hide Trash and Home folder

I don't want to install any other FileManager too. I am ok with Nautilus even though it sucks at some level.

Now, the main question is: Is there a way to get out of this session, install this extension and go back to my previous session? or something that solves this problem.

I tried many things, but by the end of the week, I will be in this situation again. I am a dual boot user (Windows 10 Pro & Ubuntu 19.04). I keep both OS up to date. Unlike Windows which is very slow but stable, this distro which is very fast but not-so-stable crashes a lot.

What I do to get out of this situation are:

• Use live Ubuntu 19.04 bootable pen drive, open Gparted and check for errors
  on sda6 and sda8. Leaving swap partition (sda7) alone.

• Sometimes I use these two commands from live ubuntu:

  sudo fsck.ext4 -f /dev/sda6

  sudo fsck.ext4 -f /dev/sda8

where sda6 is my root partition and sda5 is my home partition.

• I also did this from Grub > Recovery Mode > Root shell

   mount -n -o remount, rw /
   touch /forcefsck
   shutdown -r now

All answers attempts were done after observing suggestion from askubuntu and ubuntuforms.org. Help me get through this. I have tried many things. If there are other mechanisms let me know.

Note: Just to be clear, the fast boot is disabled in Window OS.

I have use umake ide netbeans command to install Netbeans a month ago. I am using IntelliJ Ultimate. I searched everywhere to uninstall Netbeans using umake but didn't find anything solid. Is there some umake command to uninstall? I don't see any such command in umake --help section.

I am trying practice Java servlet where I need Tomcat server. I choose IntelliJ as my IDE which is throwing me popup message:

I used this configuration:

And this is what's inside Tomcat's server.xml file, where u can see the port number also matches with the one within IntelliJ. But the port numbers of JMX, HTTPS & AJP is not mentioned in this server file by default.

Now the main question is why IntelliJ is responding like this when everything 'looks' fine? Help me if u delt with this issue.

In Java class, my sir told me to link Tomcat server config which is inside Xampp folder. But his OS was Windows and things were different on my side since I use Ubuntu 19.04. I installed "xampp-linux-x64-7.3.7-1-installer.run" from their Official website.

But unfortunately, there is no such "Tomcat" folder like in my sir Windows OS.

So I installed Tomcat using "sudo apt install tomcat9" assuming its the latest stable built.

And I went to Intellij to add Tomcat's local server configuration, and showed the path "/etc/tomcat9" but the IDE says "Application server libraries not found" as u can see in the screenshot below:

What to do? What am I missing? Help needed.

How should i do to undo this? I tried running fsck to solve my "Read only filesystem" before but it didn't help me much. It only solve the situation for a while and then it comes back again. So, i did this after reading a post.

My Java Sir told me to install MySQL-server, workbench, and connector. I did that somehow after spending 30+ hours reading different posts.

After launching Workbench, I went to Tools > Start Shell for MySQL Utilities. Which gave me this popup: https://imgur.com/GQvHKsI

After installing this package, whenever I run: sudo apt update, I get this error:

So, I thought I should uninstall this, and I used sudo apt-get remove --purge mysql-connector-python command, but it also didn't work, and it throws me the same error as above.

What to do? I am in limbo here! Since any new development done in "mysql-utilities" is aged back to Jan 17, 2017, I don't think I will be needing this anymore. I did the mistake trying to install old archived deb package. (newbie)

IF u know, how to remove it, what is it, it would be really helpful to tell me about it.

I followed this step mentioned by the app developer in readme note to uninstall it:

5. To uninstall run /opt/xdman/uninstall.sh as root

I even rebooted to see if it disappears, but it didn't. I tried the solution mentioned in I can't use "remove" to uninstall xtreme download manager but it didn't work either.

I was using indicator-stickynotes command in Startup applications which worked fine. I modified it to sleep 30;indicator-sticknotes. I read this in different articles and even on this site. But this isn't working for mine.

So I followed this post but I am stuck because of this output:

What I wanted to try is:

$ cd /sys/class This directory should contain a soft link called brightness to the brightness device discovered in the previous step. Should it be missing, create it: $ sudo ln -s /sys/devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:02.0/drm/card0/card0-eDP-1/intel_backlight/brightness /sys/class/brightness

Note that: There is no "brightness" folder inside /sys/class. But there is "backlight" folder. What should I do? Should "brightness" folder/file?

Creating the file, gives me, "Operation not permitted". I used "cat > brightness" command. It didn't work. Now the only option I have is to create a folder.

Meanwhile, I can't control the brightness through the "brightness" button. Even moving the "Brightness bar" manually doesn't respond.

Brightness button & bar used to work, but dunno what happened. How do I resolve this issue?

Since for software/OS update, PPA can play a vital role. So:

• Should I enable them all? Or should I enable those which say "Disco"?
• Or should I remove all which doesn't say "Disco"?

App update is important. Running "apt-get update" doesn't check for update unless I resolve this issue.

This is Ubuntu 18.10 dual booted with Windows 10.

When I attempt hibernation:

While resuming hibernation:

The reason I want to resolve this "warning" is that it literally takes like 10 minutes to get an active screen. i.e It resumes very slow. And I hate to wait. If by resolving this issue I can get a faster active screen, than I'm all ears.

Note I use this command to Hibernate:

I have an Ubuntu 18.10 dual boot with Windows 10. I think that because of the error below my Ubuntu crashes/hangs a lot lately at the time of reboot/startup.

I have used Automatically locking screen without shutting it off and other threads but ultimately it locks the screen, which is not what i am asking.
